The Red Cross is a member of the UN coordination group on counter-trafficking. It has been raising public awareness on illegal trafficking among general public.
Additionally, it has been helping asylum seekers and new refugees with food and hygiene supplies in cooperation with the UNHCR. The Red Cross maintains a
good contact with the Government of Armenia, the UN, non-governmental organisations and mass media. Its systems and capacities, however, need to be
developed. The current appeal, in line with the decisions of the Federations European Conference in Berlin, aims to assist the National Society to strengthen its
capacities to provide improved services to displaced people, as well as, advocate for their well-being.
1.2. Problems and needs
Main problem: Extreme vulnerability of displaced people to unstable socio-economic situation and poor health.

3. Programme Objective
The Armenian Red Cross positions itself as a key humanitarian actor in disaster management.
Indicators of programme objective:
Clearly defined role of the Armenian Red Cross in national disaster preparedness plan.
Reduced disaster response time for any Armenian Red Cross intervention.
Sources of verification:
The Armenian Red Cross has trained 16 people in the branches and the headquarters who act as focal points for population movement initiatives.
Number of coordination meetings with key stakeholders conducted in the regional branches.

Expected result 2. Asylum seekers and newly recognised refugees are provided with services to support their integration and rehabilitation.

300 information brochures printed and distributed on Armenian Red Cross Population Movement activities.

6. Project activities related to expected results
Expected result 1:
1.5. Identify focal points for population movement amongst existing staff in the regional branches.

1.6. Train the focal points on population movement issues in cooperation with IOM, UNHCR, Norwegian Refugee Council, Department of Migration and
Refugees and other key actors.
1.7. The focal points will provide necessary information/consultation to displaced people in the regions.
1.8. Organise coordination meetings in selected regions with participation of key stakeholders - government authorities, non-governmental organisations, national
and international agencies, to maximise support to the displaced people.
Expected result 2.
2.5. Provide consultations to 15 asylum seekers or newly recognised refugees and refer to appropriate organisations as required.
2.6. Provide basic relief food, non-food and hygienic items to 15 asylum seekers or newly recognised refugees.
2.7. Provide vocational training, for 10 new refugees.
2.8. Develop and print 300 information brochures for distribution through the centre and the regional branches.
Expected result 3.
3.1. Prepare and broadcast five TV spots on trafficking /illegal migration.
3.2. Develop, print and distribute 1,500 posters on trafficking/illegal migration.
3.3 Network and coordinate with agencies to discuss issues related to illegal migration.
7. Monitoring and evaluation
Monitoring of the project will be carried out through:
analysis of quarterly reports from Red Cross population movement coordinator.
field visits by project managers, population movement coordinator and Federation representatives.
A mid-term evaluation will be conducted by a joint Armenian Red Cross and Federation team to assess the progress, identify main constraints and find solutions
to ensure project objectives are met. In addition, the end project evaluation will be carried out to investigate to what extent the expected results have been met.
Findings of the evaluation will constitute the basis for future planning.
