CompositeCast
Prototypes & Short-run Production

CompositeCast, offered only by Solid Concepts, was developed

over a two year period that included testing at six early beta sites.
Composite sheet material (fiberglass, graphite, Kevlar, etc.) is positioned
in a precision Platinum Silicon mold. A proprietary fill method is used to fill
the mold cavity along with the sheet material with our AFP (Advanced
Formula Polymers). The result is a very tough and stiff cast part with B-side
detail captured. These parts can be delivered within two weeks.

Short-run Production

Hand Lay-up FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) is a well established technology.

Accurate tough parts are fabricated by applying successive layers of resin

(epoxy or polyester) and composite sheet material. Solid Concepts offers the
only UL 94 V-0 epoxy material developed for the medical industry and
suitable for large, fire retardant, cosmetic panel construction. Precise
attachment of all B-side hardware is the key to assembly success.
This is accomplished with years of experience in fixtures and tooling.
Mold life about 50 to 150 parts

VARTM (Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding)

with a growing selection of available polymers.
