Method Statement for Access Constructions

1. Introduction and General Information


This method statement provides the details of materials, equipment, procedure and relevant
documents related to access construction, including quality control verifications,
measurement verifications, and also the safety precautions to be implemented at site for this
work.
1.1. Location of Works
The location of the access constructions will be as given in the access schedule, or otherwise
directed by the Engineer.
2. Materials
The major materials used for the access construction, but are not limited to the following.

Grade 25/20 concrete

Plywood shutters

Reinforcement steel

Gunn

y bags for curing

Water

Quarry dust for leveling bed

3. Equipment
The major equipment used for the access construction, but are not limited to the following.

JCB, and/or Backhoes, and/or Excavator

Truck mixer

Tractor & Trailer

POKER

Rammers / Plate Compactors

Water Bowser

Sampling & Testing Equipment

Auto Level

Other minor tools

vibrators

4. Man Power
Man power used for the access construction, but are not limited to the following.

Technical Officer

Skilled Labors

Unskilled Labors
5. Safety Management and Control
Safety precaution will be taken complying with the Road Work Traffic and Safety Plan.
Every precautions will be taken to avoid any damages to adjoining properties.
6. Method and Procedures
The procedure illustrating a flow chart is attached in appendix -A
6.1 Drain sections will be pre cast at the casting yard.
6.2 The locations of the access will be set out complying with the issued access schedules.
Then excavation will be done after getting the consent of Engineer or QAM for the setting out.
All the necessary precautions will be taken to avoid any damages to adjoining properties
during excavation.

6.3 Then the bottom level of the access will be marked and bottom is compacted using plate
compactor and 75 mm thick Gr15/20 lean concrete will be placed to suit the bed levels.
6.4 Drain units will be placed on the harden screed. String line will be used to align the placed
drain sections and joints are filled with 1:3 cement mortar.
6.5 Thereafter finishing levels of the drain wall will be marked and any required rebar will be
tied.
6.6 Plywood shutters will be fixed for raising of wall up to the finished level.
6.7 After getting the approval from the QAM/Engineer concrete will be carried out.
6.8 After removing the shutters curing will be done using wet gunny bags.
6.9 After 7 days left from the concreting of drain walls suitable cover slab will be placed and
meanwhile back filling will be done to accommodate the access to house.
6.10 While construction of access temporary access will be provided to the satisfaction of the
house owner.
6.11All the opening kept on the walls for shutter fixing and draining out stagnated water during
the sub base & Aggregate base layer construction works will be plugged.
