I have been asked by a business and coach, Mr. A. Pitt, to produce a multimedia
website to promote Chelmsford Table Tennis Club and deliver information and
details of the club, coaching and training.
I have met with my client and discussed the requirements to produce 3 videos
and 2 sound clips. These 3 videos will be based on table tennis play whilst the
sound clips will give information on the coaches. He would like me to produce
designs by the 7th September and have the project completed and handed over on
the 5th November 2009.
The purpose of the multimedia project is to inform club members and new
comers of the Chelmsford Club and therefore, increase the amount of people
attending and joining the club. This will increase money for the club as well as
inspire and encourage more people to play.
Mr Pitt works for a council business and concentrates on finance for a company.
He is also a coach and Division 1 player in the Chelmsford Table Tennis Club
League. Chelmsford Table Tennis Club was formed in 2007 following a change
to the club name from Great Baddow Village Club. He has been a coach and
committee member of the club for several years and has identified the need for a
new website to inform club members and other audiences.
Mr. Pitt’s customers for the club are widely varied, from young children to
adults, all of different experiences, however, each with the interest to play table
tennis and improve. The players are also different in ability when referring to
disability. The target audience is primarily for the club members, to update
themselves on events, gallery images and other news information. However, it
will also be viewable to other customers, people that would like to join a local
club and need information and details.
The finished product should provide services and information to both club
members and new beginners. The product should have videos and sound clips
working to encourage new comers to join and therefore increase the amount
attending the club.
The website images and videos may be restricted to the following formats: MP4
JPG GIF and AVI. I will inform my client of these restrictions. I will have no
copyright issues, as the images will be primary images. However, the secondary
images will be from the club manager, he of which I will get permission to use
the images on the site. The site must be of the logo colours, these being blue and
white. The theme colours must be consistent. The website must be produced
using FrontPage as well as other software being used such as Project
Professional. I have used FrontPage before so I have easy access to the website at
home and at school. I am also familiar with FrontPage and therefore can design
the multimedia website more efficiently.
The multimedia website will not be able to be use with a touch screen input
device. This means the website will only be used through a keyboard and mouse.
The website will be viewable on other hardware such as Apple and Linux to
widen the range of customers the club can encourage.
To move forward in the multimedia project, I will create an initial plan using
Project Professional software. From here I will produce designs for the
multimedia website and discuss these with my client to add any information or
improve the presentation. I will be meeting with him next on the 29th June 2009.
Providing Mr. Pitt agrees with my designs and planning documents, I will
proceed to create 2 prototypes for Mr. Pitt to look at and make changes where
appropriate. I will then test the prototype on target audience on the 20th
September to observe and identify improvements, positives and negatives of the
website.
I will then create the final website with the videos and sound clips and have the
project ready to hand over, including a mini installation guide on the 5th
November 2009.
