11V0005-060 Xscend SY V3.0

Description
Xscend, the new shelf based power system from Power-One is designed to meet a broad range of customer applications
through flexibility, simplicity and scalability.

Flexible
The Xscend power system offers solutions that meet today's demands by addressing tomorrow's problems, including: power
density, reliability, accessibility, upgrades, and space requirements. Utilizing state-of-the art rectifier technology, an integrated
microprocessor controller platform and interchangeable distribution modules, the Xscend power system provides a diverse
front-access power solution in only a 3 rack unit (5.25in.) vertical and a 300mm (12in.) deep cabinet area. Xscend rectifiers
operate using a phase shifted transitional resonant zero-voltage switching technology that offers increased system life and
reliability by reducing component stresses. The same engineering strategy gives Xscend the ability to generate up to 1350W
3
in just 3.5-inch (2RU) of vertical space, resulting in a power density of over 9 W/in . In addition, Xscends forward thinking
horizontal cooling design allows shelves to be placed directly above or below customer equipment, safely increasing the
amount of space that can be used for revenue generating equipment and negating the need for airflow clearance above or
below the unit.

PCS
Controller

Description
The Power-One Power Controller System (PCS) provides comprehensive monitoring and control for
a broad range of Power-Ones DC power systems. This digital controller monitors total system
conditions including DC voltage, rectifier current, rectifier temperature, system capacity, battery
parameters and circuit breaker status.
The PCS enables data storage of system configuration information such as battery type, installation
date and system commission date. In addition, the PCS is capable of monitoring up to 128 rectifiers
and 128 sub-controllers within a power system. Visual notification of alarm and warning conditions
are indicated by front panel LEDs, while descriptions of the alarms are provided through an LCD or
as an option may be accessed remotely through a modem or a Network Interface (PNI) module.
To meet individual site requirements, the PCS contains a logic operator that can be programmed to
monitor and control specified requirements. This allows actions to be set, alarms to be triggered, and
outputs to be activated based on internal and external signal monitoring, comparing and processing.
