Set in the picturesque surrounds of Ballymully Cottage Farm on the outskirts of Limavady, Stendhal
Festival of Art brings an allencompassing artistic experience to the Roe Valley, homeof Danny Boy.
Celebrating the creativityofartists from all overNorthern Ireland, Republic of Irelandandfurtherafield,
StendhalFestivalofArtismuchmorethanjustamusicfestival.
With the festival quickly gaining momentum and nowinitsfifthyear wewillbe invitingyoung/aspiring
artists to be part of an artists residency programme whereyouwillbe working closelywithpracticing
artiststocreatenewsitespecificart.
Together last year we created a new area within the festival (AnnansArch), completely dedicatedto
visual/contemporary art and give ourchosenartists anopportunity to be partofacollective.Througha
process of sharingskills andideaswe endeavourtodevelopandshowcaseas manyprojects(ongoing
or completed) at the festival as possible and give artists involved theopportunitytoexhibit theirwork
withanestimatedaudienceof5,000people.
This year we want to push the boundaries, Annans Arch is going to have a subsection devoted to
conceptual and contemporary sculpture. This will become the residents areato decidewhat goes in
there and where. Think shocking, think in your face and think performance. At Stendhal we want to
promoteand encourageyoung artiststoshowcase theirtalents in thisunique settingand todigdeepin
that creative imagination, remember that crazy thought you had for an exhibition? Lets invoke the
syndrome!

The residency will be overaperiodofsevendaysandwilltake place thisJulybetweenthe18
and31
,
therewillthenbe opportunitiestobe invitedback to perform,installandcontinue projectsatthefestival
onthe7thand8thofAugust.
Residentswillbe accommodated in our lovely new belltentsonsiteatthe farm andtravelcoststo/from
the residency will be covered. Breakfast and lunch and access to a variety of natural and recycled
resources throughout the residency will be provided. There will be optional daily workshops and
opportunities to collaboratewithotherartists andbe involvedinlargelandartand landscapingprojects.
The residency will take place predominantly onsite at Ballymully Cottage Farm with exploration and
reflectiondaysscheduledtoexploreandresearchinthesurroundingRoeValleyarea.
Art works created by the residents will embellished with a plaque and be detailed in the festival
programme. Professional photographs will be taken of all art pieces and artists can expect press
coverage during the festival and optional press involvement during the residency. Performances will
have dailyrunning times and an incredible muchsoughtafterslot onthemainstagewillbeawardedto
anindividualorgroupperformance,withacaptiveaudienceofover1500people.

Stendhal isallabout good karma andprevious artworksincludedthemesofpunchylocalhistory,ghost

stories andCeltic mythology, these arenot strict themes but maycompliment your work. Submissions
shouldinclude
