The house we are living in is situated in the suburb of My Tho city. We have lived
there for more than twenty years. My house consists of four bed-rooms, a livingroom, a bathroom with a shower, a dinning-room, a kitchen and a toilet. It is airconditioned and well-furnished. The living-room is decorated beautifully. Paintings
by famous artists are hung on the walls. At night, the color neon lights increase the
beauty and coziness of the room. There, on Sundays and holidays my father usually
spends his time playing chess or drinking tea with his friends. My mother and my
two sisters are diligent and hard-working women. They often keep the house clean
and tidy. On suffocating days of summer, we usually take meals in the garden. It is
fairly cool and quiet here. We enjoy our meals amid the melodious twitters of birds.
On stormy and rainy nights all whole family members gather in the living-room,
watching television or telling each other about their daily activities. I love my house
very much because it is the place where I was born and have grown up in the
education of my father and in the tender loving care of my mother. I have spent my
whole childhood in the love and affection of my dear ones with so many sweet
memories.

My sweet home is in Daklak Province, this is a place where I spent my childhood
with lots of memories. My house haven't changed much through many years. With
the first look at it, you can see that it's a 2 floor house next to a small garden,
where my father grows many flowers and vegetables. It was painted with blue
outside and light orange inside. When you first step into the house, you are in my
living room. There is an sofa for guests when my family have friends or for all
members to gather around and watch TV or talk to together about our days, there is
a window behind the sofa to look out the garden. The television is laid on the
cabinet next to a vase of flowers which my mother takes them from the garden.
Many pictures of my family are hanging on the wall. Next to the sofa is a hammock
for my father to lie on when he is watching football match or for anyone to take a
short nap. Keep going inside, you will see a stair on the right and a small lobby that
leads to my parents' bedroom. At the end of my house in the ground is my kitchen,
where my mother cooks delicious meals for my family and teaches me how to cook.

There are a fridge, a cupboard with lots of bowls, dishes, chopsticks and spoons in
the kitchen, and a bathroom is on your right side. If you go upstairs, you can see my
room and my sister's room. We decorated our rooms with pink flower wallpapers
and flowers from my garden. We let a lot of teddy bears in different sizes on our bed
head and on our desk. Keep going upstairs and you can see the place for my family
to wash clothes with a washing machine and a clothe line. My father lays 2 wooden
bench for us to lie on and watch the moon, the stars...next to them are 4 wooden
chair around a table for anyone who want to enjoy cool air at night. My house is
very old, you can smell fusty and see a lot of stains on the wall. But it's not only a
house, it's a home. It's the place for our family to gather after many pressures in
life, it's the place for us to find peace and joy. Now I have to live in Ho Chi Minh city
to study and work. But I always miss my home and wish to go back there, talk to my
mom and dad about my life in Ho Chi Minh city or lie on my wooden bench, find a
peace in mind and get more energy to face with pressures in my busy and
competing life.

Whenever responding to the question Which place makes you feel happy, safe and
proud?, my house will certainly be the very first answer coming into my mind
since East or West, home is best!. I am now living in a five-room-apartment of an
old building which is located in Tran Phu street. The word Welcome sticked on the
door is the first impression a guest could recognize when visiting my house.
Entering the living room, you will be able to experience the solf and mild aroma
from the vase of lily-my favorite flower. Moreover, it is easy for you to acknowledge
the owners lifestyle through the arrangement of the furniture. To be more precise,
most of the interior things such as a table, chairs, a TV shelf and an altar are made
from wood and arranged in the harmonious way. The walls are painted in light
yellow combined with the large window and the beige curtains. All effectively create
an open and airy space as well as a cozy atmosphere for the sitting room. In the
flat, there are two bedrooms available. Besides another chambre is used as the
reading room with a huge bookcase and an armchair where you can sit and enjoy
your reading. Getting inside, the kitchen is the most adorable place in my home.
The kitchen is well-organized and decorated even though it seems to be a little bit
small. All of the cooking utensils are kept clean and orderly hung. The microwave is
put on the higher shelf which is near the dinner table while the spice jars are placed
on the lower. The whole room is sparkled by the sunshine through the wide colorful
glass window. Moreover, the kute models of animals are put in a line on the top of
the fridge. I believe that the gentle, comfortable and cozy emotion can be gained
once you visit my apartment. So, Teacher, welcome you to my home!

I'm living in a lovely house. My house isn't big, It is small but I love it. It is a yellow
house. In front of the house, there is a small garden. There are many trees and
beautiful flowers in this garden. Every morning, I water flowers and listen the bird's
voice. I'm so happy. In my house, there are a living room, two bathroom, a kitchen,
a dining room and four bedroom. In my living room, there is a big TV, a salon and a
quarium. My family often sits in the living room and watch TV together. That is my
fun time. My sister and me sit near the quarium and my parents sit on the couch.
We talk about many things: school, office...I love my family! My family have meals
in the kitchen. My mother cooks delicious meals for my family. She is the best cook
all over the word. My house's bathroom is very modern. It has everything. You can
feel the convenient there. The big room in my house is my parents' room. It has a
small TV, a wooden bed and a wooden wardrobe. I like this room very much and I
wish It is my room because my room is so small. But I like it too. It is a lovely room.
It has white and pink color so It is very bright. My sister's room is small too. It is a
green room. There are many dolls in that room and my sister like that room very
much. I love my house because many reasons. In this house, my family lives
happily. This is the most important thing to me.

I live with my parents in a small house in the countyside. It is about four kilometres
from the city.To tell the truth, I love my house very much. It is located on the foot of
a pine hill.In front of the house is a large paddy and a peaceful river.On the other
bank of the river is a small village.Needless to say how beautiful it is.Imagine that
two times a year, the paddy changes its color from green into yellow. It looks like a
lively picture. My house has a door and four big windows.The house is painted
yellow and the door and the windows are painted brown.On the left of the house,
there is a small garden in which vegetables and roses are planted.On the right of
the house, there is a pond where My father and I somtimes fish at the weekend.My
house is not very big.It has a livingroom,a bathroom,two bedrooms and a
kitchen.The livingroom is about ten square metres. There is a sofa,a T.V,a DVD and
a cabinet.Behind the livingroom is the kitchen where I like most because from here I
can see the beautuful garden through the window.It makes me more interested in

house.It is a peaceful place with beautiful landscape and pure atmosphere.I feel

More than 100 years ago, in 9/1898, the Provisional Government had a ground
breaking ceremony for a bridge crossing the Me river. The bridge was named Paul
Doumer, but citizens in Hanoi have called it Long Bien Bridge or the bridge of the
Cai river. The most original feature of this bridge is road on two sides and the rail in
the middle to the left. Long Bien Bridge is one of 4 largest bridges on the world at
that time, the most prominent one in the Easten Asia. Long Bien Bridge had gone
with the two national wars as well as witnessing the trasformation of our country
since unification. Long Bien is a part of Hanoi, therefore all national changes
occurred in Hanoi would be witnessed and participated by it. Long Bien Bridge has
become a symbol of the longevity, the beauty, the historical value of the past and
the present and the cultural heritage of the development of Hanoi.

The bridge of my home town. My home town is the city of Khanh Hoa province, Nha
Trang, located on the coast of South-Middle of Viet Nam. As far as I can remember,
my childhood was connected closely with the Bng Bridge. The Bng Bridge is one
of two bridges linking the mainland and the island that locate in the middle stream
of the estuary of Ci River. Therefore, it plays a very important role in transportation
of inhabitants between two river-shores as well as of people who live on the island.
Maybe there are few people who can remember or know when it was built. I just
know that when I grew up, it had been there for so many years. At that time, I
travelled across those two bridges about 4 times everyday to go to school. I miss
Bng Bridge more than the other because the gap between my house and it is
nearer and we often spent time swimming and participating in many exciting games
when we were children. The bridge is quite old and there are so many pot-holes on

its surface. It is about 300 meters and there are 6 abutents. Along with that bridge,
there is a great pipe that transports fresh water on it. Thank to it, we can have fresh
water to use in common day. On both side of the bridge, there are two line of lightpoles radiating light for us to go safely in the evening. The distance between bridge
floor and the water-river surface that is based on the tide is always changed in turn
except when there are flood coming and the water from the higher land flowing
down. At the North peak of the bridge, B Pagoda has been standing for thousand
years more. All of them, Bridge, Pagoda and the river make a perfect combination.
In conclusion, I love the bridge very much, for it is a wonderful memory about my
childhood. Although I have been away from my home town for along time, Id like to
return to immerse in the train of thought about memorial childhood.

On May 21st 2000, the people of the whole country excitedly welcomed the
inauguration of the largest suspension bridge of Viet Nam. That is My Thuan bridge.
The My Thuan Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge over the Mekong river, connecting Cai
Be District of Tien Giang Province with Vinh Long City of Vinh Long Province in
Vietnam. It was developed in a joint venture between the governments of Australia
and Vietnam. The bridge was the largest overseas assistance project undertaken by
the Australian government costing A$91 million. The My Thuan bridge with the total
length is 1.535 meters. There are two-headed sides, each side has 11 spans. The
main section of the bridge has three spans. The floor of the bridge is 20 meters
wide. My Thuan bridge becames a wonderful image attracting tourists from all parts
of the world and a major symbol of the cooperation between the Governments of
Vietnam and Australia in furthering Vietnam's development.

Long Bien Bridge was inherent in the history of the nation's two miraculous

the bridge retains its original shape. Some parts of the original structure are still
untouched but large parts have been rebuilt to repair the damaged sections. The
bridge is a strong visual symbol of history. Hanoians still mention Long Bien Bridge
with strong attachment in each declaration and glint. Over 100 years elapsed, the
values of the past seem to accumulate on every span of the bridge. The country has
changed, the capital has changed but the bridges symbolic value is everlasting.

There are many bridges Ive ever seen in my country such as Long Bien in Hanoi, My
Thuan in Tien Giang and Thuan Phuoc in Danang. All of them can be considered as
the most beautiful bridges in my country; however, the bridge I want to tell you
most is Nhon Hoi (Thi Nai) bridge in Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province, where I was
born and grew up. The bridge was inaugurated in 2006 after three years of
construction and is the Vietnams longest cross-sea bridge with a length of nearly
3,000 meters connecting my city to the Phuong Mai Peninsula. Thanks to it, the road
distance from Quy Nhon city to Nhon Hoi Economic Zone is cut down, from 60km
(via Tuy Phuoc district) to only 7km. The bridge marks a socio-economic
development of Binh Dinh province in particular and is an evidence of the robust
growth of Vietnams civil engineering sector in general. Additionally, the bridge is
not only a strategic economic landmark but also an attractive destination of both
domestic and foreign visitors. Indeed, the bridge is situated in the position that you
can see the whole city in the most beautiful angles. It even becomes more beautiful
when you visit it at nights. Standing on the bridge, seeing twinkling stars in the sky
and sparkling lights of light-bulbs from the city, and smelling a little salty taste from

because this type of weather really makes me feel relaxed and happy. The weather
is always fine and the sun is mild. And it is very delighting for me to see everything
turning green and beautiful. What I always love to do in this kind of weather is to
hang out with friends all day. I also like to take a walk along the beach at nights and

I like the cool weather because it makes me feel more comfortable. If the weather is
too hot or too cold, I will be not only stressful but also lazy. For example, I usually
get up late on cold days and feel easily tired on hot days. Besides, I also like go out

and my best friend often look at shops of clothing. We can spend all day finding

As for my own priority, a pretty cold and dry day with light wind is the perfect kind
of weather. In other ways, the days changing from the Fall into the Winter are the

brings to. Just a thin woolen coat is enough for us to be warm and still gentle in this

I like the weather of summer.It is very hot in the daytime but it is cool at

As a child, everyone will be very happy when she receives a gift, especially a toy.
And I'm not the exception. During my childhood, I had a lot of toys from my parents
and my relatives. Some of toys were left behind right after a few hours of playing
with them, others were kept along with me until I became a teenager. But there was
one toy that I always kept by my side when I was a child, that is a doll house which
my mom gave me in my 3rd birthday. Every girl loves dolls, that's true. And I had a

collection of dolls from different sizes. But a doll house, I'd never had before! After
blowing birthday candles, I was overjoyed when I opened my mom's present. That
was a colorful doll house with lots of rooms like a real house. I picked up 6 dolls from
my collection that represented for my family and played with them. My dad held my
hand and helped me to write the name of each member on my dolls'arms. Each
member picked their own doll and started to play with me. We chose our rooms, my
mom was cooking in the kitchen, my dad was reading newspapers in the living
room, my brother was watching TV,I was painting my picture in my bedroom...When
my parents were busy with their work, I played with my dolls, combed hair for my
mom's doll or brushed teeth for my sister's doll...I got my dolls together in the living
room, played all roles of my family and talked about everything that I wanted to.
That looked like a real life, and I totally had fun with that. When I get older, I didn't
play with my doll house anymore, but I still kept it. I was busy with my study, my
friends and my relationships. I didn't have much time at home and talk to my
parents. Once I got home late after school, I opened my doll house and saw a note
next to my dad's doll, he told me try to study and take care of myself, told me not to
stay still late or spent lots of time watching TV. I was moved to tears and
remembered my childhood when all members were playing together. Until then, I
usually got a note that reminded me something, and I wrote back to tell the things
that I hardly talk by words like how much I love them, things that I wished them to
do and not to do in dealing with a teenager's problems... Now I'm living far away
from my parents, Sometimes I call them and talk about the family game with my
doll house when I was young. I has moved to new rooms several times but I still
keep my doll house along with me. It's not only my favorite toy when I was a child,

Who took my money? I dont know, not me!!! The guilty feeling that I stole my
mums money, lied her, and shifted the blame onto my sister strongly remained in
my memory. When I was small, I starved to be an adult, so I extremely wanted to

noon, I took money from my mother to buy a plastic watch from a toy salesman. At

To be a citizen of Vietnam , I think I am so lucky when living in a country that has
less natural disasters in the world. But in March,2011, people in Japan endured the

superpower, I would make that tsunami and earthquake did not happen in Japan.

Nowadays, traffic jam is the most serious problems in the big cities. Living in
HoChiMinh City, every day I am often worried about it when transporting. If I could
have one ability superpower, I would choose ability to fly as many birds in the sky. I
think that it will help me so much. Firstly, if I have superpower to fly, I can faster go
to school, to the market or somewhere else. Up till now, I have been spending a lot

Teaching is a noble job.I'm a student and I used to expect to be a teacher.If I were a
teacher for a day, I would do many things. Firstly I chose the subject I would teach.
That's Chemistry because I love it and I study it very well. And I would teach the
eight-grade student. Second I would teach them with my particular methods. They
had to prepare the lesson by mind mapping at home and then present to the class.
They would be divided into many groups. They would work together to advance
teamwork skills.It's very good for them after. Next I would bring the comfortable air
into the class by many ways. They would relax as well as learn more. That's so
boring if we only study. Then when finish the class I would give them a question ask
them to search at home.I would give good mark to the person who had the best
answer. Finally If I were a teacher for a day I would share my experience when
studying at high school with them. It's very interesting topic.I like it so much.

If there were a chance for me to become a teacher, I would like to be a teacher of
history. On these days, it is widely agreed that history is a boring subject since it
mentions and discusses about the events and people in the past, which the learners
have put all of their effort to understand and remember mainly by rote learning.
And of course, with that poor learning way, students can not really comprehend the
lesson; furthermore, they find no interest and motivation to learn history. As for me,
in the position of a history teacher, I would expect to employ various methods on
my students. Thanks to the advance of information technology, the victorious
battles now can be well represented through the videos. And students are believed
to excitedly engage in the lesson if they can watch these files. Moreover, getting
students enroll in the real play to reconstruct a combat is another suggestive
method. They must be feel full of enthusiastic and avid to join this activity.
Additionally, after some lessons in the class, I would like to take my students into
the practical trips to visit the historic places. Standing in the historical destination
and listening to the stories from teacher, it is much easier for students to acquire
the new knowledge. Finally I would like to end my writing by a small reminder that

Now is the end time of this year. All of people are preparing for Christmas day. As for
me, I sit underneath Christmas tree and whisper: Santa can you hear me, I have
been so good this year. Thanks a lot. But the best thing, that happened to me
making me very happy is to make friend with good persons. They are my internet
friends. I know them by chance at a website English. They helped me learn English.
Although Im a stupid student, they are patient to teach me how to improve my

My favorite city is Hanoi, even though Ive never had a chance to go there. I just heard
about it through my friends who live there. Hanoi catches my attention by beautiful
names for its places: Thu Le park, Hoang Mai , Dan Phuong, Gia Lam districtand its
the place where lots of my lovely friends are living in, the ones Ive talked and shared
about lots of things but Ive never seen them for once. I love to walk around Sword Lake
and enjoy fresh air as well as peaceful scene in the early morning. Moreover, I can feel 4
seasons when Im there, and I love autumn. Everything will be slow down in that season
because of its cool weather and fresh air as well as soft wind. It's not too hot to feel
tired every time you go out and it's not too cold to stay at home and lie in bed. In this
season, people become more gentle and romantic. And I love the view of people who
are walking slowly under the trees with lots of falling yellow leaves, it's beautiful! People
can free their minds sometimes in this season and it helps them get more energy and
effort to cope with their busy lives ahead. I always imagine about the day when I can
taste ice cream under the cold weather there. If I have a chance, I definitely pick Hanoi
as a place to spend my holiday because I want to experience all the things Ive said as
well as the original cultures which Ive never been through.

Bangkok is one of the most attractive destinations in Thailand. That was the first place
that I travelled to. I was so excited and curious to learn about this country. Thailand is a
land of many rivers, forests, and mountains. I visited the capital Bangkok and some of
the rural areas around the city. However, what I liked most about Thailand were the
people and their culture. Most of the people in Thailand farm the land for their living.
They live in villages of all sizes, mostly located along the coast or near the rivers. Their
houses are made of wood and thatch and built above ground. Their national language is
Thai but English is also widely spoken. About ninety five percent of the people in
Thailand are Buddhists. Everymorning, Buddhist monks carrying small bowls, walk along
the street to receive food from people. In Bangkok, I loved every minute of riding in tuktuks or three wheeled taxi, through the crowded streets, waving the passers by and
enjoying the noise and street life. While in the capital, I travelled in tuk-tuks to visit
places and temples. The weather was hot and the journey was usually slow but it was
exciting to tour the city. Another experience I cherished was cruising in boats along
canals and the wide Chao Praya River. The trip in Bangkok was so memorable. Although
Bangkok in particular and Thailand in general has spent a historical flood in their
country a few months ago. However, Bangkok is still my favourite city. I will not hesitate
to visit this city for a second time.

If I have a chance to go abroad, I will choose London first. I have never visited to
London, I just saw it once time on T.V. But it is a really beautiful city. When you come to
London you can see a large Square where people and Tourists can sunbathe. And there
is a special thing there, that is you can ask one of some artists to paint your portrait.
Besides, you can see the BigBen clock-the famous clock in the world near the

How would you react if you got a hamster as a special gift? Would you jump up for joy?
Or would you run as fast as your legs can carry one? If you chose the second option,
you were in my case! Not only a hamster, broadly speaking, rat is the animal which
makes me lose of my control. I actually cannot reveal the accurate reasons why I am so
scared of that rodent animal but its presence always makes my hair stand on end.
Through this writing, I would try my best to make it clearer for what I feel about a
mouse. First, for me, the rat has such an awful appearance with two big front teeth and
a long snout with some bristles. What I can get when seeing a mouse are their tiny
malicious back eyes which straightly look at me without any fear. They are so terrifying!
They should have been afraid of human, shouldnt they? Additionally, a mouse has got a
fat body covered by short grey hair. A heavy body is supported by four small legs.
Besides, the creepiest feature of a rat is nothing but its long and hairless tail. Im always
panic-stricken even just noticing that tail rather than a mouse in a whole. Secondly, Ive
persistently remained a thought that mouse is a dirty species since they spend their
lives in the smelly drains. Moreover, they harm our life by chewing everything available
and destroy the harvest. To be worse, mouse is also the transitional carrier of some
dangerous disease such bubonic plague and cholera. Living the whole life without the

rats presence is ranked into one of my most wonderful wishes. And you? After reading

Crocodiles are really dangerous and frighten me the most. I cant stand watching them
for a long time because they have scary appearance that gives me goose bumps.
Crocodiles belong to reptile. They usually live in rivers or lakes where water flow slowly.
They have thick and rough skin. Their teeth are sharp that can shred meat easily. They
are good predators and fear of people and other animals. Strong teeth and quick
movement help them attack enemies effectively. At first glance, they lie down

comfortable when standing near them without firm defence. They are not friendly

unlucky who is bitten by them, he will die in few minutes. They bit the prey quickly.
Snakes are colourful. The more colorful they are, the more poisonous they are. Yearly,
there are hundreds of people who are died by land snakes.Poisonous snakes are very

Most people keep some animals for companions. Up till now, many specieses have

a good pupil and a well behaved children was bit by krait, a venomous snake when she
help her parents pulling grass in her garden. Her parents hurriedly took her to a nearest
hospital but its venom spread all her body. Although the doctor did his best, she did not
recover, in the end, she died. Also according to a recent report, every year, in Africa,
having about 1- 1,5 billion people have been bite by snakes and approximately seven
hundred people of they died. To sum up, snake has both frightened and dangerous
animal with me. I know that it behalf has a lot of special benefit but I do not like it
because it is very dangerous for people. If I can change every thing in my village, I will
extirpate them to safe my children in my village.

Seven years ago, my sister got married and my father also worked far away. I lived with
my mother and she was always busy with her business. In those days, I felt upset,
lonely and depressed. On my birthday, my parents went to Ho Chi Minh city and I was at
home alone again. No parties, no presents and wishes, I felt totally upset and got angry.
However, I did not know I would receive the best gift that Ive ever had on that day.
When my parents backed home and gave that gift to me, I couldnt believe in my eyes
because I had dreamt about it for a long time. It was not a normal gift that was used for
watching or decorating; it had emotion, feelings and love. It was a little puppy. I named
him Bo. He had smooth fur, big black eyes and he is the mixture of Japan and Chinese
dogs. At that night, my parents decided to left him sleeping on the yard. However, he
didnt like to be alone, he groaned and beat the door to get inside the house. I put him
in a small basket in my room and he slept soundly. The next morning, when I woke up,
opened my eyes and suddenly saw him sleeping like a baby, I know that this little friend
was an invaluable gift the life brought to me. When I felt bored, he made me smile.
When I came back from school, he wagged his tail and ran out to welcome me, all
tiredness was disappeared. I feed him, play with him and talk to him everyday like

with curly hair and white skin. Shes very naughty and curious. She loves me so much

One of the best gifts that Ive ever received in my life is my motorbike. I got this gift
from my parents when I was 18 and now I still use it. You know after many years going
to school or hanging around in a back seat, then I could enjoy the feeling of riding a
motorbike myself, go anywhere and anytime I wanted to, which was fantastic! With my
motorbike, I didnt have to sadly wait for my parents alone when I was off school sooner,
I didnt have to stay at home and watch boring programs on TV just because I couldnt
go to a place that I loved. Moreover, it made me feel mature when I could go to my
moms office and picked her up when my dad went home late. Sometimes, I did some
useful things for my family like giving my dad his case that he had forgotten, taking my
sister to an evening class or going to market and buy food for dinnerand I enjoyed it.
It is a precious gift for me because my parents had to save money to buy it and I took it
to service center to upgrade it. They changed the mirror, put a digital clock next to my
horn and I bought some lovely decals and decorated it. These things made my
motorbike original and special. This motorbike has been with me for more than 4 years
and I have never intended to change a new stylish one just because it is the best and

I have received many gifts in my live, but in which I like my bicycle most. It was a gift
from my father fifteen years ago when I got high result at the end of the school year.
Despite it is the oldest gift I have now and it becomes more and more ugly according to
time, for me, it is the most important. When I was a child, having a new bicycle was a
wonderful dream of any children in my village because my village at that time was a
very poor and remote village. To encourage me to study hard, my father promised to
give me a new bicycle if I got high score at school. As a result, at the end of this school
year, I obtained the highest score in my class. Of course I got a new beautiful bicycle in
the next day with an extreme happiness as well as so much envy of other children. Up
to now, I still miss clearly that happy sense. However, that night I accidentally heard a
conversation between my mother and my father. It turned out that my father used all

Noticing the peach buds slightly blossoming, getting the spring rain clang to the clothes,
smelling the incense in the air, which all signal to the fact that Tet has already arrived.
Tet is always considered as the most expectant opportunity to gather up beside your
beloved ones, to enjoy the full emotion that I am now in my home. The Tet holidays
before I was 18 suddenly rush into my mind, and I want to write about those
nonreturnable Tets. Would you feel eager and distinctive if you could celebrate Tet in
both Northern and Southern ways even you were living in the North? That was exactly
how I experienced Tet holiday in my family because my grandfather comes from the
South. A small apricot blossom tree, a lovely peach blossom one and a kumquat tree
laden with fruits, my house was full of Springs colors! I felt as if the living room were
absolutely occupied by the Springs vitality and energy. To be more important, the best
thing of those Tet holidays was that my family still had enough members as I defaulted
it must be: my grandparents, my aunt, my parents, my older brother, my younger
brother, my dog and me. Hastily preparing food for Tet, my mum spent all of her day
considering and listing everything necessary. Re-decorating the house was the my
brothers and my task. My dad took in charge of cooking while my grandparents would
like to direct how the altar should be displayed. Together preparing for Tet, I used to
experience Tet with its full meaning of Tet doan vien (Tet Family Reunion).

For Vietnamese, Lunar New year is the most important festival of a year because it is
the beginning of a year. If we have a good beginning throughout first three days of year,
we will have much luck during that year. Therefore, the activity of welcoming Tet festival
is celebrated carefully in order to avoid unfortunate mistakes. And according to each
area of the country, Vietnamese have different ways. Although I am a Vietnamese, I
dont know how families in other parts of my country welcome Tet holiday. My family, an
age old Southern family, usually celebrates Tet as this following way. Tet holiday begins
on twenty-ninth of December. We start on decorating our house and preparing food for

tet holiday. My father and I are responsible for tidying up our house. Quickly, the house
becomes splendid with a very beautiful apricot blossom full of sweet-smelling blooming
flowers in the middle of living room. On the branches, we also put some lovely greeting
cards which make the tree more beautiful. When we finish our duties, my mother and
sister also finish cooking. The kitchen is now full of delicious dishes whose smell float
into the air. We usually keep many kinds of food in our kitchen in New Year festival. At
lunch, we prepare a big feast to donate the ancestors. At the New Years Eve, our family
usually gather together. We watch television or play some traditional games. Until the
clock strikes twelve tones to signal the moment of a new year, we donate the ancestors
again. Then, my sister and I say happy new year to my parents and get lucky money
from them. Next, we have a big meal to welcome New Year. Although all of us say
nothing about our senses at that time, I know every body is cheerful and hopes for a
lucky year. In three Tet days, we are usually well-dress to visit our relatives, teachers.
We bring offerings to sacrifice ancestral altars, congratulate the olds on advancing in
years and say New Years greetings to the others. Although we all are quite tired in
these days, we are really joyful. Thanks to Tet holiday, we become closer and closer. Tet
festival is very significant for Vietnamese, and these are all of my Tet holiday. I hope

Tet is a special holidayin Viet Nam. On this occasion, people have the chance to be
together with their family. Therefore, that is what I look forward to most throughout the
year. Especially, this year's Tet is very meaningful to me because this is the first time I
can help my parents prepare for Tet. A few days ago, we started to tidy and decorate
the house. Firstly, my mother cleaned the floor, my father swept the ceiling and I
polished all the windows and washed the untensils. My little brother is too small to help
us anything but he seemed very excited about everything going on around him. Then,
my father and I went to the market to buy a blossom tree. I chose a beautiful one with
many buds on it. After having brought it home, I helped mother make Chung cake. Even
though I could not do much, I did make my first Chung cake. I was new to this work so
my cake was not very nice but my mother still allowed me to put it into a huge pot
together with my family's cake. That night, I stayed up to look after the pot because we
had to keep it heated all night. This is a really wonderful experience and I can feel Tet is
coming very soon. I can not wait for Tet's arrival when I can unwrap my Chung cake and
enjoy it with my family.

Everyone in all over the world likes the New Years Day or Tet holiday. Because this is an
occasion for members in family who are living far away all come back home, gather and
celebrate the New Year together. For my family, last Tet holiday was very special
because my sister came back to visit the hometown after 2 years of residing in U.S.
Before Tet, I and my father cleaned and decorated in the house. Besides, I assigned to
clean and paint whitewashing my grandparents graves. My father also decorated their
homes with bonsai and flower plants such as apricot blossom, chrysanthemum and
marigold - symbolizing longevity. My sister and my mother went to the market that
bought some things for the Tet holiday such as jams, water melons, five- fruit trays,
Chung cakes, flowers, etc. At night, I and my sister had an occasion to go out together
and buy many new clothes to wear on the first day of the New Year. On New Years Eve,
we had a big family party, took photographs and waited for fireworks. The first day of
Tet, I received a red envelope containing lucky money from my parents and my sister
with best wishes. I also wished my parents with long life of 100 years and plenty of
health and my sister with prosperity and luck in the New Year. The next day, my family
usually visited our relatives home and wished them success with their work and life. For
me, I met my old friends, talked and played cards together. Besides, before my sister
returned the U.S, my family had a trip to the Nha Trang beach. This was also a chance to
make members of a family closer by conversations, relaxing and laughters in the Tet
holiday. Perhaps that is the Tet holiday which I never forget because I have a time to
gather round my relatives and remember the roots and ancestors. Moreover, I feel more
excited and eager to conquer the new targets and challenges in the New Year.

I graduated from college 3 years ago and now Im working for a company in Hanoi. My
hometown is Ha Tinh province; I was born in a poor village where people live mainly by
agriculture. After graduation, I decided to stay in this city, earn money to support my
family. I hadnt come back home to celebrate Tet for 2 years because of the high cost, it
was a difficult time for me. Last year, after 2 years working hard, I saved amount of
money and could go home to enjoy a fully happy New Year. Sitting on the bus on the
way home, I felt excited and the way was so long in that day. I missed them very much.
The moment I got off the bus, saw my parents standing on the side of the road waiting
for me, I suddenly burst into tears. We collected fruits and made Chung cakes together
to sell. I was happy when talking to my parents about what happened to me, my
happiness, sadness, troubles and received good advice from them. I realized that my
parents got older and weak; I loved them so much and felt guilty about not being able
to take care of them; I was acutely aware of my responsibility. I also had a chance to
visit my relatives houses and wished them a happy New Year. Tet in villages was not
noisy and busy like cities but overflowed with love and careness. My hometown hadnt
changed much, people here was still poor and had difficult life; however, they were

always optimistic in life and treated me like their daughter, their niece. That was an
unforgetable journey and memorable Tet that I have ever had in life. Living far away
from home is so difficult, but my family is the greatest motivator that helps me
overcome troubles and live better.

If I could go back in time, I would re-experience beautiful memories in my university

lecture hall, one of such memories is I gave my teacher a song on Vietnamese Teachers'
Day in the face of large lecture hall with many male students. I have never sung in front
of a crowd so as for me, that was a special event. On that day, he gave us a song to
thank for a bunch of beautiful flowers which we presented him and he also wanted us to
give him a song. I were suggested to sing because I was a moniter and was one of the
few female students of the hall. Although being very ashamed and my face looked very
purple, I tried to stand on the platform and said tremulously I do not sing well so please
dont make fun of me. Everyone laughed like a drain causing me more fearfully but I
had begun to sing a song Miss Tam of nowaday. After finishing a song, I was very
joyful to receive many streams of applause from my teacher and friends and more
unexpected, I were suggested to continue singing more songs, however, because of
remaining to tremble, I could not sing anymore. Now when I think back, I wish at that
time I could have been calmer to sing more songs to give my teacher and friends. That
is a beautiful memory which I never forget.

transports behind me. I stopped then thought that if I came back I just could give her
one million dong that was the money I would use to pay for parking my bike and it was

I continued going to my class. I believed that going to class in a hurry to review lessons
would be better. After a short time, I realized my decision was wrong. But I couldnt go
back because I was in front of my class doors. I came into , found my sit then started
thinking. I apologized for my ignoring the poor woman. So now, if I could go back in
time, I would change my action. I would go back towards the pity woman, give her my
money, console her, hold her hands and say that I and you will pray together for you to
have a better life, I hope you will feel warm in these winter days. Believe me, Buddha
will bring light to your life. If I could do like that, I sure I and her would felt happy.
Although my money couldnt help her much, but she would feel happy because of my
words. That day, I didnt finish my exam successfully. Even at night I couldnt sleep and

Our life has many pressures from work and family. If being under these pressures for a

second view because becoming a follower , you will have less stress and still achive
useful experiments. Firstly, the leaders encounter stress because they have to make big

responsibilities and consequences. However, group members will only have a limited

the concept of marriage has changed. Many people think that marriage should be left to
the choice of the young people. But, in my opinion, marriage is the total of the parentss
opinion and the childrens opinion. Because each generation has a marriage concept
