n important beginning is being made for
farmers' welfare under Krishi Mahotsav
at Pawarkhera in Hoshangabad district.

inaugurate composite logistics hub equipped
with global level facilities on May 30 there.
Through it, 3000 persons will get direct and
indirect employment and agro-based industries
within 100 km radius will also benefit from it.
MP government had decided to develop logistics
hub at Pawarkhera with cooperation of private
sector. In this regard, an MoU was signed
between Madhya Pradesh government and
Kesar Multi-modal Logistics Limited. Its foundation stone was laid on September 24, 2012.
The project cost is Rs. 210 crore. A sum of Rs.
120 crore has been spent on its first phase.
Mandi Board will get Rs. 12 crore 70 lakh royalty from the hub. Messrs Kesar Multi-modal
Logistics Limited has developed the hub at
Pawarkhera with an investment of Rs. 138.50
crore. It will have inland container depot for
cargo and container movement, railway terminal and storage for cold chain and food process-

ing cold storage. Various warehouses, agrobased industries, value addition services and
truck terminal will also be available. Traders of
fruits, vegetables and other horticulture produce will have facility of cold storage of 40 thousand quintals in the hub being constructed
under PPP mode on 88 acre. Farmers will also
be able to safely store high quality seeds of soybean and paddy. Apart from transportation of
agriculture produce, the hub will be used for
food processing on a large scale. Production
units of flour, maida, pulses and potato chips
will also be established in the hub.
Arrangements for safe storage of these products
will also be made. The hub will be developed as
per national norms.

Importance of Pawarkhera
Pawarkhera has been a major centre of agriculture research. It has good connectivity due
to being near railway line and on highway-69.
It boasts of 100 years old wheat research centre being run by Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture
University. A number of varieties of wheat
have also been developed there.

Ujjain: At Mahasammelan of Farmers Producer

Organisations held during Krishi Mahotsav at Ujjain, Chief
Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the state government is considering implementing a scheme under which farmers
will have to repay only 90 percent of loans for purchase of seeds
and fertilisers. He announced to provide facilities on par with
public sector undertakings to Farmers Producer Company. He
said that food processing units will be given 40 percent subsidy
and assistance for construction of cold storage and cold chain.
Shri Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh is ahead of all in constituting farmers organisations. He said that the state government will provide interest subsidy on loans given by banks to
farmers producer organisations at high interest rate. Farmer
Producer Companies should also come forward in food processing
sector. With this, agriculture will become profitable and faces of
farmers will brighten with happiness. The Chief Minister said
that rate of seed transplantation in the state has risen to 30 percent. This has become possible due to formation of farmers producer company. He said that when major companies sell produce
of the state on high rates then why not farmers producer companies do the same? He said that farmers will become rich only
when companies undertake grading, packing and selling at fields.
The Chief Minister said that people of our country go to Israel to
study methods of farming. In times to come, we would develop so
much farming facilities that people will come to Madhya Pradesh
for this. He informed that Rs. 2300 crore Narmada-Khsipra Link
Project is being readied. Efforts are also on to link Parwati and
Kali Sindh rivers.

boy's death due to "sunstroke"
Raipur
The Chhattisgarh Government

death of a five-year-old boy due to
"dehydration and sunstroke" in the
forests of Surguja district with CM
Raman Singh today terming the incident as "horrific". Opposition

died of starvation.
On the direction of CM Raman

Cong blames govt

Congress alleged that family's
ration card was cancelled after their
mother died due to illness and
administration did not issue it in the
name of male member.
Leader
of
opposition
TS
Singhdeo said that the fact that

deceased's mother had died a couple of

months ago, following which the family's
ration card was cancelled, indicates insensitivity on part of the administration. "There
is no rule that says that if there is no women
above 18 years in the family, ration card will
not me made in the name of a male of the
house.
Since the woman in this case had died
and there was no other woman in the family, the administration should have taken
steps to transfer the ration card in the name
of the man of the house," he added. Sarguja
district collector Ritu Sen admitted that the
family's ration card was cancelled after the
woman member of the family died due to illness. "However, we conduct regular drive for
adding names, but none from the family concerned came forward with the request to
issue ration card in the name of male member," she claimed.

Modi only polished his global

image in 1 year: Cong

Launching a broadside against Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose

government recently completed its first year in office next week, senior
Congress leader C P Joshi has said Modi has been busy only in "polishing"
his international image instead of securing borders. Amplifying his attack
on the BJP-led NDA dispensation, Joshi said the country has lost its strategic vision in the area of defence due to Centre's "unsuccessful policies"
and its "diplomatic predicament".

Raipur
"Modi government is playing with the national welfare and national security. This government neither
has policy nor priorities to strengthen the county,"
Joshi said in a press conference Joshi said Modi has
put in all his efforts in last one year only for "polishing his international image" instead of securing
borders and strengthening internal security. "The
Centre's unsuccessful policies, programmes and
strategic predicament are the evidence of the fact
that India has lost its strategic vision in the area of
defence," the former Union minister said. Joshi said
Modi government's "lack of concern" towards the
country's security is evident from a number of
issues. "...Reducing defence expenditure, frequent
ceasefire violations, rising tension on border,
Pakistan and China Infiltration into Indian territory,
no decision over one-rank one-pension scheme; all
these issues show Modi government's unconcern
towards the country's security," he alleged. Recalling
the initiatives undertaken by the erstwhile UPA government for securing the country's borders with
China, Joshi said the Congress-led regime had made a
provision of whopping Rs 85,478 crore for various
strategic projects including constituting the mountain

that China had registered objection during the formation of corps but we clarified to them, it is important
from our security point of view," Joshi said.

Jashpurnagar also hit the streets for denying kin of late Dilip
Singh Judeo a berth in the Cabinet. The workers and supporters of the Jashpur royal family forced shut down and
burnt effigies of CM Raman Singh and raised slogans.
Protesters blocked roads and forced shopkeepers to down
shutters. Judeo's son Yudhvir Singh represents Chandrapur
constituency in Janjgir-Champa district. He is a secondtime legislator. He was hoping to make it to the Raman
Singh ministry during recent cabinet expansion. Ever since
BJP leader and spearhead of 'ghar vapsi' programme Dilip
Singh Judeo's death, his sons and family were feeling sidelined by the Raman Singh government. They attribute their
alienation to their uncle, Ranvijay Singh Judeo's elevation
to Rajya Sabha. Dilip Singh Judeo, former Union minister,
had launched a 'ghar vapsi' campaign for re-conversion of
Christiansinto Hindu fold in undivided MP and later in
Chhattisgarh. Judeo royals hold considerable clout in tribaldominated Jashpur region. Meanwhile, BJP sources said the
ruling party was yet to reach a consensus on its choice for
the post of deputy speaker as some senior legislators, who
were hoping to make it to the cabinet, have refused to
accept the post. They said senior legislator Devji Bhai Patel,
who represents Dharsivan assembly segment, has been
offered the post, but he was not inclined to accept it.

Cabinet approves re-promulgation Discrimination, violence

eties. Asked if he was confident of

the bill's passage, Modi said it was
not a question of life and death for
him and it was not on the agenda
of his party and the government.
The bill was passed in the Lok
Sabha with official amendments in
March but was not taken up in the
Rajya Sabha where the government lacks a majority. The land
ordinance was again promulgated
in April. With the Congress and
several other opposition parties
firmly opposed to the bill brought
by the National Democratic
Alliance (NDA) government, it has
been referred to the joint committee of parliament. The recommendation of the cabinet for re-promulgation of the ordinance will be sent
to President Pranab Mukherjee.
Meanwhile,
Congress
leader
Randeep Singh Surjewala said the

New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that any discrimination or violence against any community in the nation would not be tolerated. "I have said this before and I say it again: any discrimination or
violence against any community will not be tolerated. My position on this
is very clear: 'Sab ka saath, sab ka vikas.' We stand for each of the 1.25
billion Indians regardless of caste or creed and we will work for the
progress of each of them. Every faith in our country has equal rights; it
is equal not only before the law but also before society," said Modi. He
added that the constitution of the country guarantees religious freedom
to every citizen and that is non- negotiable. "Our Constitution guarantees religious freedom to every citizen and that is not negotiable. The tradition of welcoming, respecting and honouring all faiths is as old as India
itself. As Swami Vivekananda said: 'We believe not only in universal toleration, but we accept all religions as true.' This principle of equal
respect and treatment for all faiths has been a part of India's ethos for
thousands of years. And that is how it became integral to the
Constitution of India," said Modi. "Our Constitution did not evolve in a
vacuum. It has roots in the ancient cultural traditions of India. I expect
that everyone will understand and respect this," he added

New Delhi
The union cabinet has given its
approval to the re-promulgation of
the land acquisition ordinance but
the move was strongly criticised by
the Congress and the Janata DalUnited. The cabinet meeting,
chaired by Prime Minister
Narendra Modi, gave its approval
to amend the Right to Fair
Compensation and Transparency
in
Land
Acquisition,
Rehabilitation and Resettlement
(Amendment) Ordinance, 2015.
The land acquisition ordinance
will be promulgated for the third
time. The ordinance was first
promulgated in December last
year to amend the Act passed during the United Progressive
Alliance (UPA) government in
2013. A government spokesman
said that changes in the 2013 Act
will facilitate farmers to get better
compensation and rehabilitation
and resettlement benefits" in lieu
of land compulsorily acquired by
the concerned government. PM
Modi said that no decision taken
by his government concerning the
land bill was "anti-farmer". He
said chief ministers insisted on a
change in the 2013 Act and he
thought of addressing their anxi-

government decision for repromulgating the ordinance was an "insult" to

parliament and the government should seek forgiveness from people on the
"insensitive
decision".
Accusing Modi of "doublefaced anti-farmer attitude",
Surjewala said the prime
minister had said he was
open to suggestions on the land bill
but his government again put its
stamp on the ordinance. "On the
one hand, the BJP-led government
forms a joint committee to have a
re-look at the bill, on the other
hand it plays a cruel trick (to
approve re-promulgation of ordinance)," he said, adding the decision should be immediately taken
back. In Bihar, which will face
assembly elections in a few
months, JD-U leader and Chief
Minister Nitish Kumar said the
Modi government was "trying to
impose" the land bill on farmers
and it will prove costly. "Modi's
government is desperate to pass
the land acquisition bill in the
Rajya Sabha to impose it on millions of farmers who are protesting
against it across the country,"
Nitish Kumar said in Patna.

led
UP
Government wants to promote Indias
traditional perfume, Itr, business in
the state for which he is very close to
signing a twin city agreement with
Grasse, worlds perfume capital.
According to an official statement by
the UP Government, Yadav, who made
his political debut in Kannauj in 2000,
said, UP Government wants to promote the Itr business as one of the primary businessesin the state. France
can play a major role in this regard, he
said adding that the bilateral relation
between India and France would be
strengthened further through this business. Yadav said that Kannauj is Indias
perfume capital just like Grasse is
worlds perfume capital. The KannaujGrasse pact will facilitate technology
exchange, ingredient sourcing and
partnership among perfume manufac-

turers of the two cities. The pact is

expected to revive and modernise the
struggling indigenous perfume industry
and help it tap international markets.
The UP CM said that the new
technologies will help boosting the
small perfume industry and will also
give a boost to floriculture and farmers
in the state. The pact will also bring up
employment opportunities in the state.
He was confident that UP will emerge
as one of the major hubs globally for
the perfume industry. He said that making Gulkand tax free would be another step towards boosting floriculture in
the state. Besides a commercial tie-up,
the Kannauj-Grasse pact would also
entail a branding exercise both for perfumes worn by people on their body
and those used in food material.
Agreement for sourcing of ingredients,
plant extracts, and perfumes from
Kannauj would be signed with Grasse.

SMEs biggest job

creators but starved
of credit: PM Modi

New Delhi
MUDRA has been set up with a corpus of Rs 20,000
crores to help the small businessmen, who despite being the
country's biggest job creators have historically been starved
of credit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said in an open
letter to the citizens. On the occasion of the first anniversary
of the NDA government, Modi wrote a letter to the citizens
on the different economic issues. One year ago, you had
entrusted me with the task of building a new India and putting a derailed economy back on track. We have achieved a
lot, the letter said. Economic growth has been revived,
and is amongst the fastest in the world. Inflation is substantially down. Fiscal prudence has been restored. Confidence
is up. Foreign investments have increased. This positive outlook is endorsed by major rating agencies and international
institutions across the world, Modi said in the letter. Bold
reforms pending for decades have been implemented. Diesel
prices have been decontrolled. The Goods and Services Tax
(GST) is slated to be introduced next year, PM said adding
that, By facilitating companies to Make in India through a
focus on Ease of Doing Business, new jobs are being created. Cooking gas subsidies are being paid directly to beneficiary bank accounts under PAHAL ensuring the right

amount of subsidy, reaches the right people, at the right

time. FDI limits in insurance, railways and defence production have been raised. Moreover, we have embraced the
states as equal partners in national development, working as
Team India in the spirit of cooperative and competitive federalism, said the letter. Stating that the political interference
in public sector banking Bdecisions is a thing of the past,
Modi said, Transparent coal auctions and allotments have
mobilized potential revenues of Rs 3.35 lakh crores to coalbearing states over the lifespan of mines. To combat black
money, a Special Investigation Team has been appointed and
a new stringent law passed. Nearly Rs 1 lakh crores of public investment have been allocated in this years budget to
improve physical as well as digital connectivity. A comprehensive transformation of the railways into a locomotive of
growth has begun. Stalled highway projects are being
restructured and revived. Power generation is at an all-time
high. A new National Infrastructure Investment Fund has
been set up with an annual government funding of Rs
20,000 crores, the letter stated. Economic growth benefits
all Indians, said Modi adding, Growth however, has
meaning only if it empowers the poor, farmers, women, as
well as middle and neo-middle classes of all communities.

Luck played a big part at the

Mumbai
Batting legend Sunil
Gavaskar
said
luck
played a big part earlier
in his cricketing career
which spanned over 16
years from making his
Test debut in March, 1971
to playing his last OneDay-International (ODI)
in November, 1987. On the sidelines of the launch of former India opener
Madhav Aptes autobiography As Luck Would Have It on late Friday,
Gavaskar went down memory lane to put forward a couple of incidents
that happened in his debut Test series when India toured the West Indies
in 1971. I am here today only because of luck. Couple of incidents which
happened against the West Indies in 1971 tour earlier on in my career
proves it. In one of the Tests against them, I was batting on six when I hit
a square cut and the ball was really travelling. Gary Sobers was fielding
in the background and the ball hit him in the chest and fell in the ground
and I survived. I went on to score a half-century, the former Indian captain recalled. Gavaskar, who scored 10,122 runs in 125 Tests, put forward
another instance where luck played a big part while batting. On my way
to my first Test century, I was on 94 when I played forward to a off-spinner and Gary used to stand just at the back of my back pocket and he was
that close. But in anticipation that because I moved forward, Gary moved
to his left towards forward short leg.

and a coach to attend the NCC later next
month. Cooley said the trip would provide
some players with their first experience of
cricket in India while for others it would
enable further refinement of their technique in differing conditions to Australia.
Being successful away from home is a
key ambition for us when it comes to
developing our young players, so being
exposed to the conditions in India provides
them with an incredibly valuable experience, he said. Having Glenn McGrath
along will be a wonderful learning opportunity for the young pacemen we are tak-

ing along, and also more broadly for the

rest of the group. It will be the first time
we have taken the spinners along at the
same time and theyre looking forward to
challenging themselves in the conditions,
a press release said.
Among the players taking part in the
exchange include Australia A batsman
Cameron Bancroft and paceman Andrew
Fekete who will both tour India in July
with the A squad. Young spinners Jonte
Pattison, Riley Ayre, Mitch Swepson and
all-rounder Ashton Turner will travel in
the first group that leaves on Sunday
along with batsman Kelvin Smith.

Tendulkar, Ganguly, Laxman

join BCCI advisory committee
Mumbai
Batting legends Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav
Ganguly and V.V.S. Laxman were named to the
newly-formed advisory cricket committee of the Board
of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday.
The president of the BCCI, Jagmohan Dalmiya, has
nominated Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and
V.V.S. Laxman as esteemed members of the Cricket
advisory committee of the BCCI, with immediate
effect, the BCCI said in a statement. The trios areas
of immediate focus will be to provide guidance to our
national team as we set out to enhance our performance on overseas engagements, provide direction to
improve our talent pathway and take steps to

strengthen domestic cricket to better prepare our

players to handle the rigours of international cricket,
it said. Many feel the inclusion of former captains
Ganguly, Tendulkar and ex-vice captain Laxman
who have a combined experience of 447 Tests among
them is a big move as India head into a critical
phase where their Test team will be led by young
batsman Virat Kohli, while in the shorter formats
Mahendra Singh Dhoni will continue to lead the side.
In the last couple of years, Indias Test performance
has been marked by overseas series losses in England,
Australia, South Africa and New Zealand that resulted in India dropping to the fourth spot in the Test
rankings. They were the No.1 team from December
2009, till August 2011.
I am happy to note that our eminent cricketers
have come forward to lend their experience and
insights as we work towards a common goal of taking
Indian cricket to greater heights, Dalmiya said on
Monday. The coming generations are bound to benefit from the guidance that will be provided by these
luminaries and will go a long way in strengthening
our existing system.
