1:1 Chromebook Implementation
Background:
Comprehensive School Improvement Plan Objective 3:2-By 2017, all students, grades 6-12 will
have access to one-to-one devices as evidenced by each student having access.
At the May Board of Education, meeting a plan was outlined to address the preceding CSIP
Objective. Within the FY 16 Budget, the district has the resources to meet the 1:1 objective for
grades 6-12 by using a combination of existing and new equipment.
The specific 1:1 plan will be reviewed at the meeting and is attached for your perusal. Of note is
the Technology Damage Waiver Option, which is an annual optional fee parents may elect for
their child to cover device accidental damage or parents may elect to forgo the fee assuming full
responsibility for the cost of repair or replacement of their student(s) device.
To implement the plan, additional Chromebooks are needed and the Technology Damage Waiver
Option should be established.

Recommendation:
The Administration recommends the purchase for 348 Chromebooks at an estimated cost of
$97,092; 1,200 Chromebook cases at an estimated cost of $30,000 and management software for
all district Chromebooks at an estimated cost of $9,977. All funds are budgeted in FY 16 Capital
Expenditures.

The Administration recommends establishing a Technology Damage Waiver Option for students
participating in the 1:1 Chromebook distribution at a rate of $30 per student or $60 per family.

for the ride. Informal learning is like riding a bike: the rider chooses the destination, the speed, and the
