Sewing Instructions:
Note:
All seam allowances are 12" (1.27cm) unless otherwise
indicated.
Interior Pockets
1. Place the two inner pocket pieces right sides together. Sew 14" (.64cm) away from the top edge. Fold
right side out and press. Sew 38" (.95cm) away from
the folded edge to form a casing. Cut a 15" (38.1cm)
length from the braided elastic and insert a safety pin
into one end. Use the pin to guide the elastic through
the casing. When the tail end is even with the edge
of the pocket piece, secure the elastic with several
stitches approximately 14" (.64cm) away from the
edge. Continue pulling the elastic through the casing
and secure the other end in the same manner.
2. Following manufacturer's directions, fuse the 6" x
10" (15.24cm x 25.4cm) piece of interfacing onto
the wrong side of one 6" x 10" (15.24cm x 25.4cm)

Fabric C side pocket piece. Place the two Fabric C

side pocket pieces wrong sides together. Fold the
212" x 6" (6.35cm x 15.24cm) Fabric A pocket trim
piece lengthwise in half with wrong sides together.
Place the folded trim piece raw edges even with the
top of the pocket. Sew along the top edge using a
1
4" (.64cm) seam allowance. Fold the trim over to
the other side of the pocket and press. Sew the trim
down along the bottom edge.
3. With bottom raw edges aligned, place the side
pocket right side up on the right side of a 6" x 14"
(15.24cm x 35.56cm) Fabric C side lining piece. Baste
around the sides and bottom of the pocket. (Fig. 1)
Lining
4. Mark the center and tuck fold lines on the Fabric
C bag body lining pieces. Make a tuck by bringing
the fold lines (dotted vertical line on pattern) to the
center mark. Press the tucks to each side and baste.
Repeat for the other side. (Fig. 2)
5. Mark the center of each Fabric A yoke piece. Match
the center of one yoke piece with the center of one
bag body lining piece. Pin in place. Pin each end,
then ease the rest of the bag body lining piece to
fit the yoke piece. Pin well. Sew using a 14" (.64 cm)
seam allowance. Repeat using the other yoke and
lining piece. Press seams toward the top. Edge stitch
along the yoke pieces at the seam. (Fig. 3)

6. Pin the inner pocket to the right side of one bag body
lining piece. Sew around the sides and bottom of the
pocket, securing the elastic with extra stitches. (Fig. 4)
7. Sew a 6" x 14" (15.24cm x 35.56cm) Fabric C side
piece right sides together to each side of a bag body
lining piece, stopping 12" (1.27cm) from the bottom
edge. With right sides facing, stitch the other lining
piece to the side pieces.
8. Sew the 6" x 13" (15.24cm x 33.02cm) Fabric C lining
bottom to the lining assembly one side at a time. Clip
the corners.

13. Sew a 6" x 14" (15.24cm x 35.56cm) Fabric A side

piece right sides together to each side of a bag body
piece, stopping 12" (1.27cm) from the bottom edge.
Sew the other bag body piece to the sides.
14. Center the 5" x 12" (12.7cm x 30.48cm) stabilizer
bottom piece on the wrong side of the 6" x 13"
(15.24cm x 33.02cm) Fabric A bottom piece. Fuse
following manufacturer's directions. Sew the bottom
to the bag body piece one side at a time with right
sides together. Clip the corners.

Straps
9. Fuse a 2" x 20" (5.08cm x 50.8cm) interfacing piece
onto the wrong side of each of two 2" x 20" (5.08cm
x 50.8cm) Fabric B strap pieces. Cut the ends of the
strap pieces at a 45 angle. (Fig. 5) Sew the two strap
pieces right sides together along each long side. Turn
the strap right side out and press. Edge stitch along
both long sides. Repeat to make another strap.

15. With the bag still wrong side out, place the lining into
the bag with right sides together. Pin from one side
seam up and across the top to the other side seam,
leaving open where indicated. (Fig. 7) Repeat for the
other side of the bag. Sew the bag and lining together along the pinned edges, leaving the sides open
from seam to seam. Turn right side out.
16. Press the upper edge of the bag. Smooth the lining
bottom in place, and then iron to fuse the lining to
the stabilizer.
17. Slip a 5" x 13" (12.7cm x 33.02cm) stabilizer side
piece into the side of the bag between the lining and
the exterior so it fits snugly at the seams. If it does
not fit snugly, remove, trim, and replace. Fold the top
edge of the bag side over to cover the stabilizer. Fold
the seam allowance of the lining side under and pin
or clip to secure. Slipstitch the opening closed.

Bag Exterior
10. Following manufacturer's directions, fuse a fleece bag
body piece onto each Fabric A bag body piece and
an interfacing yoke piece to each Fabric B yoke piece.
11. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the bag exterior.
12. Pin each end of a strap to a yoke piece, matching the
strap angle to the edge of the yoke. Baste in place.
Repeat on the other side. (Fig. 6)

18. Make sure the lining is positioned to match the side

seams with stabilizer edges. Fuse the stabilizer to
both the bag exterior side and lining side. Repeat for
the other side of the bag. Edge stitch along the top
edge of the bag.
19. Use the embroidery needle with thread to attach the
button to the center of the bag front at the bottom
center of the yoke.
