Welcome

Today, more than ever before, welded equipment must be fabricated to provide long and reliable service even when
exposed to aggressive operating environments such as in arctic oil fields and refineries, offshore platforms, pipelines,
and advanced chemical process and power plants. The key to success and avoidance of problems, especially with new
alloys intended for extremes at high and low operating temperatures requires.
1.
2.
3.
4.

understanding the nature of potential in-service problems at welds and heat affected zones
selection of the right consumables with adequate properties even during upset situations
implementation of optimal welding procedures and post weld treatments to meet target properties
inspection methods to assure welding procedures delivered sound joints and desired microstructures

Successful fabrication and satisfied customers action requires attention to every detail from material and processing
controls to filler metal, preheat and welding parameter selection. You should join WRC-EUROWELD-CWA and its
team of internationally known welding and fabrication specialists for the latest and best guidance. See and hear about
the state-of-the-art in welding technology to avoid problems even in the most demanding service situations. You
will obtain up-to-date practical information needed for selection, specification and economical fabrication of modern
high performance alloys from high molybdenum and duplex stainless steels and nickel-base alloys to creep strength
enhanced ferritic steels.
The Conference has been organized to bring to attendees industry welding specialists involved in welding and
construction of process, refining, power and other equipment. The program of authoritative speakers will report on
the principles and latest technologies needed to assure high quality products. There will be ample time for questions
at the end of each presentation session and also for discussions with the speakers and other attendees during two
informal evening networking sessions. The venue of the Conference is Edmonton Alberta at the newly renovated
DoubleTree West Edmonton Hotel. The Conference starts Tuesday morning of June 10th, 2014 and concludes at noon
Thursday June 12th.

All Speakers and Attendees are Invited to a Networking Reception Following

the Tuesday and Wednesday Afternoon Sessions
Presentations will disclose how to avoid errors in consumable and material selection and what welding procedures
and thermal processing to specify. Understand complex materials such as duplex alloys and creep strength enhanced
ferritic steels. Save money by choosing the right alloy for the right job. The team of welding specialists assembled by
WRC-EUROWELD-CWA from industry for this conference embodies a vast array of welding, service and research
experience that you can share. Topics range from process selection, to PWHT to optimizing weld corrosion resistance
and properties,
Each session will conclude with question and answer periods. There will be a Networking Reception at the conclusion
of the afternoon sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday and group lunches on Tuesday and Wednesday. A volume
containing the presentations of the speakers will be given to each attendee.
The meeting format will include opportunities for discussion and problem solving as well as question-and-answer
periods. Attendees are encouraged to submit their questions in advance to wrc@forengineers.org.
