I'm in the UK so have not seen the DVD yet. Just to put a lid on this live album debate, with VERY few exeptions the
only true live albums are bootlegs. Thin Lizzy's 'Live and Dangerous', often cited as the greatest live album of all time
is about 70 percent re-recorded. Yes, I have the HFO bootleg and there are places where Don's voice cracks here
and there which were touched up for the official release. SO WHAT! The chances of the whole band(any
band)playing and singing every song, in a two hour show, note perfect are pretty remote. GET OVER IT!

- in regards to Disco Strangler
I'm sure that there was some overdubbing done but I don't think there is as much as done as you think. Seeing them
live there harmonies seemed very dead on at that show, and I can say that it wasn't lip synching. There was some
very raw edges left on it. Listen to Boys of Summer off the DVD. I'm sure that if the DVD was that overdubbed
Henley's voice wouldn't have been cracking throught that last few chorus lines. I think that You belong to the city
would have been cleaned up as well as well as some of the instrumental parts. I can say Its pretty close to their live
shows.

I really don't think that criticizing 'over-dubbing' is necessary (if that is, indeed, what happened). They are there to
give us terrific sound. That's exactly what we received. If they didn't use it and didn't sound up to par, then many
others would complain. They've been around for over 30 years and are still holding their own. I think they deserve a
ton of credit and applause.

This DVD should have been called; The Eagles-Overdubbing in Australia

I find it strange that Frey comments that "its no accident" that their harmonies sound so good. Then you sit back and
hear the obvious post-production recording that they did.. Same as HFO. God, did they fix that one! If you own the
bootleg raw audio from that gig and compare it to the official release, you'll know what I mean!! Sure, a live concert
probably is never perfect harmony wise (unless you listen to Clapton's undubbed 24 Nights CD), but the Eagles
always go overboard!! There's places on HFO where you can hear two Don Henley's singing.
Anyway, a little too polished.. Sometimes the rough edges should stay!!

Well ,well , well...kudos to the boys for getting Elliot Scheiner for recording and mixing and Clare Brothers for sound.
This makes this a most enjoyable DVD. It is right up there with HFO and I'm sure on its way to being in about every
other household (or should be)! The sound is amazing and Carol Dodd was the perfect choice for director. The shots
she managed to snag and blend in were beautiful and at just the right moment in the songs. If you don't have DTS,
get to somebody's house and hear it! Amazing! You can hear the slightest nuances of percussion and guitar work.
I think the songs were done amazingly well. The boys sounded great, better than they did in the 70's in some
respects and the orchestral changes to the songs just made them more interesting to hear. I fell in love with them all
over again.
Just goes to prove that these guys are rock legends and deservedly so.

I bought the DVD last week. I still like the Eagles Live CD (digitally remastered) from the 70's better (which a lot of
people seem to have forgotten exists) and HFO DVD/CD is still the best in my opinion. If you listen to the songs on
Eagles Live, the are performed more like they were recorded. Frey has changed to many of his songs to match his
lower voice... same for Henley but not as much as Frey. I especially dislike how frey does Peaceful Easy Feeling...
too country sounding... vs. country rock. I don't like how he does New Kid in Town now... much better on Eagles Live.
Tequila Sunrise is much better on HFO... I really dislike adding horns and violins in myany of the songs. I was hoping
they would have done the songs the way they were recorded.

First and foremost this DVD is certainly a document that the boys are alive and well and kicking ass.
In my opinion this DVD without question should stomp out any of the skeptics concerning steuart smith. The man is a
virtuoso on the guitar. Steuart has the ability to make a six-string guitar mimmick a pedal steel guitar. He relies
heavily on using a tremelo in conjunction with string bends, however, his licks are all done with superior taste. He
dances around the pocket and adds a whole new dimension to the eagles sound. Kudos to glen and don for making
such a wonderful selection on Steuart. As far as the Felder fans are concerned, I feel your pain as I get a bit teary
eyed when watching my HFO DVD,but, im gonna be busy burning a hole in my new farewell I discs.
I also have to say that im getting attached to the rest of the backing muscians due to their exposure this time around.
What an incredibly group of exceptionally talented muscians. I feel sorry for the folks that can not enjoy the new DVD
with the aid of home theater. The mix is exceptional. I can hear every part simultaneously making the whole
experience better than ever. Its now more apparent than ever how much thought goes into an eagles show.
I do agree that the bonus interview was a bit short. More footage of the guys equipment would have been great. I
found myself just getting warmed up when the interviews ended. However, if anything was going to be cut short it is
better that it was the interviews rather than the music, which is the whole reason we are all here in the first place.
In closing, I have to say that you should go out and get this DVD.There is absolutely no disappointment here. If you
are watching the show on a regular television without home theater, then go to a buddies house or go rent a home
theater system and a big screen TV pop open a cold one and let her rip. BTW, im ready to see an all out assault on
the confessor by the eagles, what a great treat that would be for us Joe fans. Joe Walsh for president and Steuart
Smith for vice president 08. Im already campaigning!!!!

My $.02

The DVD smokes the NBC broadcast all the way around, but then again, it is comparing apples and oranges.
Steuart Smith is a very competent guitarist, but Felder is definitely missed. Watch HFO again, listen closely to the
solos and the sounds of the guitar, then the Melbourne DVD, and see what I mean. Steuart's guitar has no bite.
Didn't care for the way the band would retard the lines on Wasted Time. Thought it slowed down the pace of the song
even more.
On the other hand, Tequila Sunrise (the trumpet was a nice touch) and Already Gone were slammin'! I think it was
Henley who stated they were singing and playing better today than in the seventies. Listen to the awful Don
Kirshner's Rock Concert version of Already Gone in 1974, and you know he might be right!
No More Cloudy Days sounded like a typical Tempchin/Frey song, and One Day At A Time sounded like a typical Joe
Walsh song. Nice, but nothing extraordinary.
Boy, they really dropped Boys Of Summer even lower to accommodate Henley's voice. True, it is a hard song to sing,
but it changes the feeling of the song when it is transposed to a different key. Would rather have heard I Will Not Go
Quietly anyways, and hear Walsh wailing away on that one! Besides, I think that would have been a more appropriate
song for a Farewell I tour.
Henley does seem tired...probably why he never smiles. It was interesting to see him play congas with mallets,
though.
Finally, with the Eagles notorious history of overdubbing live albums, I wonder how much "sweetening" this one got?
All in all, still worth the price, and am very glad I bought it.

Every time I see an Eagles concert I'm blown away by a certain song. It's always a different song each time. This
concert: Heartache Tonight. My god did they look like they're having fun on this one.
I had no issues with Henley's voice. I was even more pleased to see Glenn hitting all the notes in YBTTC. I've heard
him struggle with that the last few times I've seen them.
Dirty Laundry was FANTASTIC. That clip of them hopping around together was great.
Most memorable single moment? The close-up shot of Henley and Frey singing duet on Lying Eyes.
The sound was incredible. Australian women are beautiful. A perfect line-up of songs (although, I too would have
liked to have heard The Last Resort as well).
The world is a better place for having this DVD in it!

GREAT DVD! So many great tunes included that HFO didn't have. Yeah, Last Resort and Victim of Love would've
made this perfect, but this is still pretty close. Agree with others about Henley's voice issues, but he's always had
problems reproducing some of his amazing studio vocal work live. Even when I saw him during the Building the
Perfect Beast tour, he had trouble with Boys of Summer. But, c'mon, that's gotta be one of the all time toughest tunes
to sing, period. Still, at least his voice wasn't completely gone as it was on the first Farm Aid 20 years back. Glenn
sounded good on nearly every song, but I still say Schmidt should be singing Take It To The Limit! Joe's voice
sounds better than expected. I don't suppose there are any easter eggs on the DVD, huh??? Maybe a hidden bonus
track of TLR or VOL??? :)

Received an unexpected birthday gift in the mail yesterday...you got it...the new DVD. I watched disc one last night. I
must say I am very pleased overall.
I think the band was more relaxed than on HFO. It is
interesting to see them do subtle changes on the arrangements of our favorite songs. Don's voice on the HFO version
of Wasted Time was his best ever but this one is unique and very good. I am a "Fingers" Felder fan but I really like
Stuert's style of playing. He brings a "Nashville" sensibility to the table which reminds me of Bernie. I thought the
guitar solo on
LWKUA was much better than the original and the piano on that was a great addition. I too had to listen on
a standard TV so I am really looking forward to taking the DVD to a bud's house and experiencing this on a state of
the art home entertainment system. Hope you all enjoy this as much as me.

I got the dvd yesterday and spent all last night watching and listening. Assuming I never get to see the Eagles live in
concert again (last time was 2003), this will serve as the perfect remembrance of their Farewell 1 tour, even with all
the post production. Having the two new songs is a bonus (particularly if they never finish that elusive studio album).
Now that this is out, hopefully, if they do tour again under the guise of Farewell 2 or whatever, they will drastically
change the set list and include both different "old" songs and at least a few brand new ones as well. This was a great
trop down memory lane and I felt very emotional through so many of these songs. A most worthwhile purchase!

I first saw the band in 1977 in London on the Hotel California tour, 1996 on the Hell Freezes over tour and again four
years ago in Manchester. They are vocally better now than in the 70's (check any bootleg). Don Henley has always
struggled live with certain songs as a lot of them are deliberately written in keys that will push his voice to get 'that
sound'. That's what makes him great. Glenn also sings better live now than in his 'rock star' days. (check out Don
Kirshner concert to hear a very out of tune Already gone. Not seen DVD yet as it's not released in UK for a couple of

I disagree completely with newgrayburns' comments. HFO is not the Eagles live sound, it is a studio take on the
Eagles sound. In my opinion this DVD is infinitely better than HFO. Farewell I is much closer to a live recording than
HFO - less studio over-dubbing, then again some people like the perfect studio sound and don't really want to hear
reality. The reason the concert in 2003 was "better" was because you saw it live, and nothing as cold as a recording
can ever match the feeling of being there.

This is a MUCH better buy for the rock genre Eagles fans who tend to stick to the 4 songs near the end of HFO.
Don Felder was great but I don't think his underlying rythym in Life in the Fast Lane ever made or broke the song, this
version of Life in the Fast Lane is more energetic, the end solo is extended with more punch and closer to what I
imagine Joe intended when he wrote it.
As for the problem with the sound of the guitars some are experiencing, I am not an audio expert, but I've played it on
several systems and some give Joe's guitar almost a muted sound on a number of the songs, Already Gone was the
worst in my opinion, and I had to stop watching the DVD on the television by itself (this would explain some people's
complaints regarding the NBC special when they were watching on regular television). This might be because the
guitars were recorded on seperate channels and where you are listening with a system that is limited in this respect
you're only going to hear Walsh's guitar through what was picked up on the mics - a terrible disappointment,
technology really has us prisoner on this one.

the concert in Detroit, wow. The new songs were great. I like Joe's more, since I think that they still got to work out
some of the nicks on No More Cloudy Days. Speaking of NMCD they played the studio version here on the radio, I
heard it earlier. It sounds practically the same as the one live just polished. I have to say the best performances off
the DVD were Walk Away, Dirty Laundry, Already Gone, and Life's Been Good. But the DVD was definatley worth the

I watched the first disc last night, and finished with the second disc a few minutes ago...In contrast to what
newgreyburns said, yes, Don Felder WAS the sound of the Eagles in 1994, but for 2005, Steuart Smith kicked major
butt with the things he does that Felder couldn't. The solo on OOTN, although a Felder-composed solo, was IMO 10
times better and so much more refined for today's Eagles' sound. I love this set...I agree that the horns were a little
much, but I respect that they kept the good foundation of all the songs and simply spiced them up for '05. My only
negative comment...Henley seems very tired. Anyone agree?

For starters, I have to say that the difference in sound / picture quality between the dvd and the NBC special is night
and day. So if you liked Hell Freezes Over, you must pick this up. The overall performance from the band is above
average for the Farewell I tour, a lot more joking around then most shows I saw. All of the guys sound great, Glenn
sounds better here than he has in years (but then again they probably spent hours dubbing over the dvd). My favorite
songs would be "Wasted Time" (a knockout version), "No More Cloudy Days" (IMO the best song the Eagles have
recorded since 1980), "Dirty Laundry" and "Desperado." Weak moments would be "Boys of Summer" (Henley has
had trouble singing the verses to this for a while now), and the addition of the horn section in odd places (ie blaring a
trumpet solo over the guitar solo in "Tequila Sunrise"). Also, I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the bonus
features. They clock in at a mere 11 minutes and are nothing more than an extended version of the interviews seen
on NBC. I was really hoping for some actual sound check footage, or maybe them in the "circle of fire." Nonetheless
these flaws don't make this dvd any less great, and every Eagles fan should own it.

Got the DVD today at Circuit City for $16. Was extremely impressed with the quality of the content. It's an anamorphic
widescreen DVD ... and the pix and sound quality are very good. I taped the NBC show in 1080i HiDef on a JVC
DVHS recorder. In most of the scenes, I can't see much difference between the HiDef NBC content and the new
DVD. It's a fabulouse transfer.
The performances are also quite good ... but let's face it, we knew that would be the case.
BTW, I screen my DVD's on a DLP Infocus front projector that blows it up to about 80 inches diagonal. And this
picture holds up just fine. The detail is there ... so go out and buy it. Let's reward quality DVD production.

I ordered mine (through the link on this site not less, free plug) a couple of weeks ago, received an email Saturday
from Amazon that said the item was shipped and it's at my house TODAY. I can't wait to head home and watch it.

Well I decided to get it of course, haven't seen it yet...but just have a comment. Why do some people order it thru
amazone.com weeks ago ..& they still haven't got it... When you could go to the local store & pick it up in short
time..Why pay amazonian.com a few bucks less ..but have weeks of waiting & so much time spent worrying when
you'll get it ????

Mine arrived yesterday and I played most of it last night in surround sound. On a first glance, i was really impressed.
Glenn sounds great in particular, and Joe was awesome. The upbeat tunes really add to this show, that HFO does
not have. I think it shows the guys have gotten better with age, except maybe Don's voice is not quite as clear as
years ago. The sound is great though I am still trying a few surround modes in PCM.

It is a great DVD, I only wish I had a Home Theater system that decoded the 5.1 DTS :( Well I get paid 3 times in July
so guess what is coming :). T
was nice to see Walk Away and Dirty Laundry too. IMHO, much better than the HFO DVD, but HFO was and is still
great in its own way!

As L&M know, I am in Mexico so only last friday I had the chance to hear the 2 new songs: Wow!
Some of you kindly told me on the Chat room NMCD was kind of Tequila sunrise tune. I think it sounds like a pure
Strange weather Glenn song (for me, best Glenn material after No fun aloud). Altough, at the end the strings (greatly)
remind me of Poco's Call it love, wich it means the guys are back on their roots (Wich it's great!). Honestly, first 2,3
times I struggled a little "catchin' the song", but now I can tell ya', it's 100% "good old Glenn" so it's 100% Eagles and
I love it!

Special coment for Mr. Joe Walsh's ODATT. Love at first sight with that song! Reminds me a little of Bob Seger's
pieces with Horns section and stuff, but absolutly it's Joe at his best. At the end, I recognize A life of illusion and The
long run in that song... So, if I spent last 20 years listening and recyclin' the old ones, I don't see why not I can't spent
the rest of my days listening to this one! That good it is.
LTBS, GOI, TGFY and HITW gave us all a break, a fresh moment in our souls, now let's hope soon we can enjoy a
100% new 10, 12, 14 songs, no matter may be the last ones.
Regards, JP Bernal.

I'm jealous, Mews! I got my message notifying me that it had been sent. The postal delivery person must wonder if I
have a crush. I've met him out front every day since!

So far, worth every penny. Wasted Time one of Henley's best, the new songs are awesome, Walk Away is terrific, the
audience is having a great time, you even get over the models ;), but I've only gotten through Disc One, and this is
only on my fairly crummy tv in the living room, with dinky speakers. This is NOT the NBC special.

Unfortunately, there will be several of us regulars who won't be able to participate in the Eagles Must-See-DVD party
on Thursday, since we will be in Atlanta watching the real thing (one member, anyway)!
