Nowadays the time of giant fields with homogeneous geology is over, and more fields
have unconventional resourses. Unconventional resourses development requires detail research
of field.
The “U” field locating in the Western Siberia consists, in cross section, of two overthrust
slices Paleozoic base and Meso-Cenozoic sedimentary cover. Tectonically license place belongs
to Verhnenadimsckya monocline in southern part of Nadim-Tazovsckya syneclise. Sedimentary
cover composed of heterogeneous sandstone and siltstone include production layers related to
Jurassic and Cretaceous. Base formation layer (Cretaceous, BS 10-1) producing hydrocarbons
since 1993 is a compound reservoir consisting of wedge-shaped interlayers.
Present days problems exist in further development strategy. These problems are
associated with oil recovery rate, pressure maintenance program, well pattern optimization.
Thereby necessity to studying of possible filtration and fluid migration directions features
occurred.
Previously oriented 36 core samples from 6 wells were studied for this investigation.
Orientation of core samples was provided with help of the spatial demagnetization with using
step by step heating. Sediments may be characterized by three magnetic vectors. Paleovector is
generated during sedimentation, chemical vector is generated if rock undergoes diagenesis and
the third one vector is occurred due to present day magnetization vector influence. The first
orientation vector is more stable and remains after thermal demagnetization process, thus
paleovector let us orientate core samples.
Coordinate system is drown on sample after orientation of core and thin sections are
carried out in three direction. Then preferential directions of filtration and fluid migration are
evaluated.
Studying of thin sections from oriented core samples of strata BS 10-1 approved that
there are two general directions of filtration and fluid migration. Rose-diagram of distribution for
porosity and date measurements preferential orientation for dislocations and microfissures gives
us evidence that the main direction of hydrocarbon migration are approximately 250-350 North-
East and 3500-3600 North-West direct.
In addition for microstructure analysis petrophysical properties investigation was carried
out on oriented core samples. Observation results display that in stratum BS 10-1 two general
directions of filtration and fluid migration dominate. These results are conformable with
microstructure analysis.
On the base of these data geological/filtration model was constructed, well pattern was
justified, directed of hydraulic fracturing and infill drilling was planned. All of these help as to
select the main principles of reservoir management.
