Q. What does geography means ?


A. To write about , or to describe , the Earth..
E. ancient Greek words ge meaning Earth and graphein meaning to write
Q. Geography helps us understand ?
A. The world we live in , the impact of our actions on the Earth and the physical-human
relationships in Geography.
Q. The environment that we live in can be divided into ?
A. Physical environment and human environments.
Q. What does Physical environment refer/ mean ( to )
A. The Earths physical features and the process leading to the information / occur
naturally on the Earth , such as mountains and volcanoes .
E. Things that cant be created by humans : rocks , different types of vegetation.
Q. What does Human environment describes ?
A. The way people live , work and interact with the physical environment / Things that
do not occur naturally but are man made.
E. Examples ; Where people live, types of housing people live in and what people do.
Q. What is the impact that people have on Earths physical features ?
A. When people build a city they often change the appearance of the area by adding roads
and houses.
Q. Geography is concerned with.?
A. The Earth and the *physical human relationships.
Q. What does Geography help us realise/ realize ?
A. That there is a relationship between humans, animals and plant because we share one
home the Earth
E. Example : If Thailand were to have a drought , rice fields would be destroyed , which
leads to shortage of rice. And if that happens, Singapore would also suffer as Singapore
get rice for Thailand.
Q. Ways of studying Geography ?
A. Books and internet , fieldwork and case studies
Q. Skills : How does searching for answers help ?
A. We develop skills in locating and acquiring information, critical thinking and decisionmaking.
E. Skills like map reading skills.
Q. What is fieldwork ?

A. It is first hand , gathering evidence directly form the environment rather than from
books .
E. It enables us to see the geographical features described in our books, and to discover
things around the world

A. To study a topic or environment in detail

A. Our senses : sight , touch , smell , taste and hearing

the environment.
