Memories Gone By | Mot Thoi Ba Qua aims to highlight the stories of reflection and intergenerational thoughts and feelings on their 40th year in Australia. The goal of "Memories Gone By" is to reach as many people as possible—parents, educators, people who are already interested in learning more about the Vietnamese community and to educate people about migrant communities and their experiences in settlement. We want this documentary to be a catalyst for conversations and to create intergenerational unity amongst the Vietnamese community. The aims of this project includes the following: 1, To give a voice to the voiceless - this project hopes to let us hear from the people and/or perspectives that we don't normally hear from, the ones that aren't usually represented in mass media or anywhere. A documentary made from the inside perspective will be more sensitive of nature and reflective of how the community sees themselves. 2. To find the extraordinary in the ordinary, which is focusing on everyday people in everyday situations, leading everyday lives. 3. To focus on the journey-not just the destination, to draw our attention to the whole process-not just the final product — this project hopes to show the audience how things got to be the way they are now 4. This documentary hopes to give the community a chance to reflect and encourage critical thinking about the world, and seeing facts, can eliminate many myths and superstitions about issues. 5. There hasn't been a documentary that is intergenerational of nature. 6.
