This article Ive read about Is HIV Becoming Less Contagious? A Study from Africa
suggests virus is evolving. It was on MONDAY, Dec. 1, 2014 (Health Day News) By Randy
Dotinga a Health Day Reporter , that New research in Africa suggests that the AIDS virus is
getting smarter about evading the immune system while evolving into a less contagious and
less lethal infection. At first, I dont understand the article and what the study is all about,
but as I go on reading furthermore, Ive realized that this is a good news for the researchers
and the readers since, some viruses actually evolve to make the host less sick over time. In
here, I can imagine that the most successful viruses are the ones that cause maximum
disease and kill their hosts (human) However, this is not necessarily the case, in my popular
inner vision and understanding, what if the hosts die quickly, the chances of the virus being
transmitted reduce very rapidly. So, in fact, the most successful pathogens tend to be the
ones that have evolved over time to cause very little disease.

Moreover, in the country

Botswana in Africa that theyve conducted the study , the researchers found, the virus has
become more clever in passing the immune systems of people infected by it. However, this
appears to be beneficial for them that there is a rate to HIV from this process of adaptation,
They have found out that the rate is that HIV replicates less efficiently than before. In
addition, to my knowledge and understanding the researchers are that expert enough to
suggest that powerful anti-HIV drugs are also pushing the virus to become less contagious.
Indeed, for my overall perception, The virus has to change but these changes have
consequences at present and in the future.

An AIDS-free generation
(The Philippine Star) | December 2, 2014

The Philippines joins other countries in marking World AIDS Day amid a worrisome
development. . This years World AIDS Day theme is, Focus, partner, achieve: an AIDS-free
generation. I know from the seminar Ive been in the past months here in San Pedro College
that the large rate of men having sex with men are spreading Aids that causes HIV but in this
new article, it has been said that as for the survey and research they have done, female sex
workers were spreading the AIDS-causing human immunodeficiency virus to heterosexual
males, who in turn were infecting partners. It also shows

that there is no room for

contentment. The DOH is encouraging high-risk segments of the population which are the
female sex workers to undergo regular testing for HIV. While there is no cure for the disease,
antiretroviral drugs have been effective in prolonging the lives of those with HIV/AIDS. Ive
also learned that Children in particular can benefit from early detection and treatment with
antiretroviral drugs, but pediatric HIV treatment is much lower than the rate for adult
patients. For my additional insights, Indeed, With an effective information operation, more
resources and better public access to HIV intervention programs, lives can be saved and HIV
transmission is prevented. This years World AIDS Day theme is, Focus, partner, achieve: an
AIDS-free generation.
