The development of the growth of the textile industry in Indonesia is

increasing from year to year. This causes more and more problems of
environmental pollution generated. Textile industry wastewater containing dyes .
Release of dye containing effluents into water bodies is unacceptable at least on
two counts: i. their intense color and ii. poor decolorization and biodegradation
in conventional wastewater treatment plants (Rao et al., 2006).
Several methods are used for the removal of organic dyes from
wastewaters. The current physic-chemical methods, based on the separation
between dye and ffluents, produce a residue which requires an additional
treatment to be destroyed (Sala et al., 2014). Those methods become nadequate
because of large variability of the coposition of wastewater. Furthermore, the
treatment cost of wastewater has been escalating rapidly in recent years.
Therefore, looking for effective treatment method is required (Zourab et al.,
2009).
One method often used to degrade organic waste is advanced oxidation
process (AOP). Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) in recent research. It offers
advantages including the environmental compatibility, versatility, energy
efficiency and amenability to automation (Hongna Li et al., 2014). Many
processes such as chemical oxidation, Fenton and photo- Fenton processes,
ultraviolet (UV)-based processes, photo-catalytic redox processes, supercritical
water oxidation, sonolysis, and electron beams and -ray irradiation come under
advanced oxidation techniques (Nidheesh and Gandhimathi, 2012).
Fenton process, which is a reaction between ferrous and hydrogen
peroxide for generating hydroxyl radical, under acidic condition is efficiently used
for destroying organic and inorganic pollutant by using the capacity of oxidation
of hydroxyl radicals generated from catalytically destroying H 2O2 by iron ion
(Mofrad et al., 2015). The main weaknesses of homogeneous Fenton processes are
the strict control of the pH (2.53.5) to guarantee a high catalytic performance and
the recovery of the iron metal ions from the treated ef fluent which also generate a
metallic sludge that needs further treatment. The use of heterogeneous iron-containing catalysts offers a practical alternative to conventional homogeneous
catalysts (Isabel Pariente et al., 2015).
On the other hand, Fentons reagent is used for threated an oil-water
emultion from the machinery industry. Fentons reagent has the dual functions of
oxidation and coagulation in the treatment process, and the extent of each
treatment mechanism will depend on the [H2O2]/[Fe2] ratio (Chao Feng et al.,
2015). E-Fenton method has also been used to reduce the COD value. E-Fenton
method showed the synergetic effect on COD removal. COD removal efficiency
increased with Fe(II) to H2O2 molar ratio and electrical current, but further
increase of current would reduce the efficiency (Hui Zhang, 2007).
In recent years, research shows that using Fenton reaction alone in dye
wastewater treatment, there are some shortness such as: a large amount, low
efficiency, and higher costs. Microwave enhanced Fenton technology combines
pyrolysis and hydroxyl radical oxidation of organics in the microwave effect. It
also has the advantages as: reduce the activation energy of the reactants, savings

dosage of H2O2, oxidative degradation rate faster and thorough and so on
