RANGERS ANNOUNCE 2015-16 SCHEDULE

Opening Night on Oct. 7 at Chicago; Home Opener on Oct. 10 vs. Columbus

NEW YORK, June 25, 2015 The New York Rangers announced their 2015-16 regular
season schedule today. The Blueshirts will begin their 89th NHL season with an Original
Six matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wed., Oct. 7 in Chicago.
New York will play its season opener on the road for the 65th time in franchise
history and for the eighth consecutive season. The Blueshirts will open their regular
season schedule with a contest on the road against Chicago for the 12th time in franchise
history and for the first time since 1990-91. The Rangers 12 regular season openers on
the road against Chicago are tied for the most they have played against one opponent in
franchise history (the Blueshirts have also played their regular season opener on the road
against Detroit 12 times). The Rangers will play their home opener at Madison Square
Garden on Sat., Oct. 10 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Rangers will play a total of 30 games against Metropolitan Division opponents
this season. The Blueshirts will face Philadelphia and Washington five times apiece, and
will play four games apiece against Carolina, Columbus, New Jersey, the NY Islanders,
and Pittsburgh. New York will play three games against each Atlantic Division opponent,
and will also face off against each Western Conference team twice in 2015-16.
The Blueshirts do not have a homestand or a road trip longer than three games in
2015-16. The Rangers have five separate three-game homestands and five separate
three-game road trips this season. The 2015-16 season is the first season which the
Rangers will neither have a homestand nor a road trip longer than three games in length
since the NHL adopted an 82-game schedule in 1995-96 and the first season overall since
1941-42.
The Rangers will have 17 back-to-back sets during the 2015-16 season. After
playing its first two games of the season on the road, New York will play 11 of the
following 16 games, including eight of the following 10 games, at Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers busiest months are November, February, and March, as the team will play
14 games in each of those months. The Blueshirts will play more home games in
November (eight) and more road games in March (nine) than in any other month during
the season. The Rangers will play more home games on a Sunday (10 games) than on
any other day of the week during the season. New York will also play eight home games
on a Monday, eight home games on a Tuesday, three home games on a Wednesday, five
home games on a Thursday, two home games on a Friday, and five home games on a
Saturday throughout the course of the season.

The Blueshirts will play their first game at Barclays Center against the Islanders on
Wed., Dec. 2 at 8:00 p.m. The Rangers will host Columbus on Mon., Feb. 29, marking the
first time the Blueshirts will play a home game on Feb. 29 since Brian Leetch made his
NHL debut in 1988 against St. Louis.
Starting times for all contests at MSG will be 7:00 p.m., except for the following 10
games: Sun., Oct. 18 vs. New Jersey (1:00 p.m.); Sat., Nov. 28 vs. Philadelphia (1:00
p.m.); Sat., Jan. 9 vs. Washington (1:00 p.m.); Sun., Feb. 14 vs. Philadelphia (7:30
p.m.); Wed., Feb. 17 vs. Chicago (8:00 p.m.); Sun., Mar. 6 vs. NY Islanders (5:00 p.m.);
Sun., Mar. 13 vs. Pittsburgh (12:30 p.m.); Wed., Mar. 23 vs. Boston (8:00 p.m.); Sun.,
Mar. 27 vs. Pittsburgh (7:30 p.m.); Sat., Apr. 9 vs. Detroit (12:30 p.m.).
