This photo was taken on the Lahave River, Tuesday evening, June 9 this year. It was race #2 of the Robar
Countertop series at the Lahave River Yacht Club. The boat's name is "Spring Fever" and is a "Soling" one
design. On the evening of the race the wind was quite strong and the pictured boat made a bold decision to fly a
spinnaker sail. The spinnaker seemed to be a handful to "set" but was a wonderful sight as the boat raced up river
through Middle Lahave with a "Bone in her teeth". The boat is owned by Dr. Ewart Morse of Bridgewater, longtime
LRYC member and seasoned racer.

There are not many sites like this one and even fewer with 25 acres, extensive
lake frontage and a custom crafted log home. This rare find is located in
Westfield, Queens County, tucked away at the end of a year round road on
Tupper Lake. Its just about 8 minutes from the Village of Caledonia, with
medical and other services, and within 30 minutes to either Bridgewater or
Liverpool along the south shore. Being inland, its also just 30 minutes across to
Annapolis Royal on the Bay of Fundy coast. The property includes a completely private sheltered cove, amazing shoreline, mixed forest and east and south
exposures. The nearest neighbour is an estate property hidden from view on another large acreage. The log home was built
6 years ago for the owners by Heartwood Log Homes, the most recognized log home builder in Nova Scotia. It has a mix
of large round, red and white pine logs, engineered for this amazing structure. Its a 1.5 story building, 25 x 29 with a 78
covered verandah across the waterside and a big shed dormer on the second floor. It sits on a concrete foundation and has
a deck along one side with an outdoor stone fireplace. The timber work is fantastic. The logs, floor and roof systems are
all exposed highlighting the craftsmanship and attention to detail. The interior has an open floor plan. The main floor has
a kitchen area, bathroom, cozy sitting corner and a huge livingroom with woodstove. Upstairs is one big open space with
a vaulted ceiling and lots of natural light. The stairs come up into the centre and 2 or 3 bedrooms could easily be created,
but the owners liked the one big open space . . . perhaps you will, too. The floors are wood, ceilings are wood, the
windows are all double pane, energy efficient, the woodstove cranks out the heat, the entire structure is wired for power but
its off-grid, so you can use solar or propane. There is propane here now to operate the fridge. Water is collected off the
roof and works perfectly for short stays or a week or so. For year round living, water can be piped in from the lake. Talk
about cozy. The lake at the other end has year round and seasonal residence, but no power boats or jet skiis. And yes,
