WELCOME
INTRODUCTION
A woman finds healing by touching Jesus' cloak, and a girl is restored to
life when he takes her by the hand. In both cases a boundary is crossed: in
Jesus' time the hemorrhaging woman was considered ritually unclean,
polluting others by her touch, and anyone who touched a corpse also
became unclean. In Mark's gospel Jesus breaks down barriers, from his
first meal at a tax collector's house to his last breath on the cross as the
temple curtain is torn in two. We dare to touch Jesus in our "uncleanness"
and to live as a community that defines no one as an outsider.
CHILDREN are always welcome to our Worship Service. Rainbow bags
and a cry room are available. A staffed nursery is also available if needed.
An usher will gladly provide you with assistance.
As a worship courtesy, we ask that you please turn off or set to vibrate
all cellular telephones and pagers during the worship service.
We ask that all present today please fill out the Attendance and Communion
registration card found in your bulletin and place it in the offering plate so
that we may record your presence with us.
INVOCATION
In the name of the Father, and of the (+) Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
Brothers and sisters, if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, God who is faithful and
just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another.
Most merciful God,
we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We
have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have
done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our
whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the
sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us,
and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your holy name. Amen.
In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for
his sake God forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minister of
the church of Christ, and by his authority, I therefore declare to you the
entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the +
Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

A MESSAGE FOR OUR CHILDREN
PSALM 130
After the death of Saul, when David had returned from defeating the
Amalekites, David remained two days in Ziklag. 17David intoned this
lamentation over Saul and his son Jonathan. 18(He ordered that The Song of
the Bow be taught to the people of Judah; it is written in the Book of
Jashar.) He said:
19
Your glory, O Israel, lies slain upon your high places!
How the mighty have fallen!
20
Tell it not in Gath,
proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon;
or the daughters of the Philistines will rejoice,
the daughters of the uncircumcised will exult.
21
You mountains of Gilboa,
let there be no dew or rain upon you,
nor bounteous fields!
For there the shield of the mighty was defiled,
the shield of Saul, anointed with oil no more.
22
From the blood of the slain,
from the fat of the mighty,
the bow of Jonathan did not turn back,
nor the sword of Saul return empty.
23
Saul and Jonathan, beloved and lovely!
In life and in death they were not divided;
they were swifter than eagles,
they were stronger than lions.
24
O daughters of Israel, weep over Saul,
who clothed you with crimson, in luxury,
who put ornaments of gold on your apparel.
25
How the mighty have fallen
in the midst of the battle!
Jonathan lies slain upon your high places.
26
I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan;
greatly beloved were you to me;
your love to me was wonderful,
passing the love of women.
27
How the mighty have fallen,
and the weapons of war perished!\

2 Corinthians 8:715
VERSE:
21
When Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd
gathered around him; and he was by the sea. 22Then one of the leaders of
the synagogue named Jairus came and, when he saw him, fell at his feet
23
and begged him repeatedly, "My little daughter is at the point of death.
Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well, and live."
24
So he went with him.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived
by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius
Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at
the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and
the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of
saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life
everlasting. Amen.
PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION
Trusting the Spirit's power, we pray for the church, the world, and all of
God's creation.
Please sit or kneel as you are able.
Each petition ends with:
Hear us, O God.
Your mercy is great.
Receive these prayers, gracious God, and those prayers known only to you.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Let us pray. O God, ruler of heaven and earth, all that we have and all that
we are come through you. We offer back in thanksgiving a portion of what
you have given us: our time, our work, and our wealth. With them we
dedicate our lives to the care and redemption of all that you have made,
through Jesus Christ, who gave himself for the salvation of the world.
Amen.

PREFACE
HOLY, HOLY, HOLY Holy, Holy, Holy (ELW 190a)
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
Holy, mighty, and merciful Lord, heaven and earth are full of your glory.
In great love you sent to us Jesus, your Son, who reached out to heal the
sick and suffering, who preached good news to the poor, and who, on the
cross, opened his arms to all. In the night in which he was betrayed, our
Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his
disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you.
Do this for the remembrance of me.
Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to
drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and
for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.
All baptized people are welcome to the table to receive Christs body and
blood. If you have not been baptized, you are also welcome to the table as
Gods guest; we are honored by your presence. We recognize the Body of
Christ as the community of the baptized, so if you would like to become
part of the Body of Christ, we encourage you to seek baptism. If you cant
or dont wish to receive today, we encourage you to hold your hands over
your chest for a blessing as you come forward.
COMMUNION
The body of Christ, given for you.
The blood of Christ, shed for you.
Amen.
LAMB OF GOD O Christ, Lamb of God (ELW 196)

Go in peace. Love as God has loved you.
Thanks be to God.
POSTLUDE
March
Henry Purcell
The flowers on the altar are given to the Glory of God and in
memory of Anna Wiegerig.
Presented by Nora Wiegerig
These two strong-willed apostles are the pillars of the church in the first
generation after Christ. Peter was one of the Twelve, one who both offered
a glorious confession of faith and later denied knowing Jesus. Paul once led
the persecution of Christians, then was converted and helped bring the faith
to non-Jewish people.

Catherine Winkworth, died 1878; John Mason Neale, died 1866; hymn
translators
Neale was an English priest who specialized in the translation of Latin and
Greek hymns into English. Winkworth lived in Manchester, England, and
devoted herself to translating German hymns. Almost all English-speaking
hymnals include many of their translations.
Friday, July 3
Thomas, Apostle
Though frequently remembered as "doubting Thomas," this apostle also
demonstrated a willingness to suffer and die with Jesus (John 11:16), and
finally claimed the risen Christ as "my Lord and my God!" By tradition, he
later worked as a missionary in India. Long commemorated on December
21, Thomas's celebration is moved to July 3 in agreement with ecumenical
calendars.
