The nurse is temporarily the consciousness of the unconscious; the love life for the

suicidal; the leg of the amputee; the eyes of the newly blind; a means of locomotion for the
infant; knowledge and confidence for the mother; the mouthpiece for those to weak or withdrawn
to speak.
To our college officials; to our dean, Dr. Marites Cadam-us; to our guest speaker, Dr.
Francisco Valdez, to my fellow young nurses, parents, guardians, ladies and gentlemen, Good
Afternoon.
Caring, the central theme of Nursing as a discipline sets it apart from other professions.
Nursing is not a pure Science if it was we nurses should have been confined inside laboratories
or doing fieldworks. Nursing is not a pure Art. If it was, nursing then is a vocation not a
profession even more a discipline. Rather Nursing is caring wherein in caring, nursing try to
meet these opposite branches of Human Knowledge. And human beings are the focus of nursing
discipline, unlike other discipline we treat human as our partner in a symbiotic relationship.
Who would have thought that the go to profession for those who just want to earn instant bucks
oversees is so complex? And not only in its complexity that makes nursing a noble profession but
the tremendous responsibility that nurses carry on their shoulder every time they wear their
symbolic white uniform and behind these white uniforms we are wearing hides a body that tells a
lot of stories... stories of triumph, stories of failure and stories we have shared with every patient
we have taken care of. Behind our white uniform is a young nurse who has endured countless
sleepless nights of studying loads of concepts, making limitless nursing care plan, drug studies,
journals and myriads of case studies and presentations. Behind our white uniform is a young
nurse who gave their all to care every patient from womb to tomb. Behind our white uniform
hides countless marks of a warrior who has fought well. And in our everyday battle several
people have indeed fought with us on our way to be nurses and they all deserve to be recognize
not just today but for the rest of our lives.
To our parents, guardians, and to the people who have supported us with our schooling,
we, the students would like to thank you for all the things youve given us, for exerting extra
effort just to meet our needs. We cant express how grateful we are to have such wonderful,
caring, loving, supportive, and understanding parents.

To our friends whom we took this journey along with, facing different challenges, whom
we made a lot of memorable and colourful experiences with, this day is such a bittersweet
moment.
To our mentors who shared their knowledge with us, who challenged us to do better, who
pressured us just to bring out the best in us-Thank you for honing us to become the best nurse
that we can be.
To Union Christian College which serves as our second home who equipped us the
knowledge and skills to face the challenges that awaits us in this continually evolving world and
developed us to be better and responsible Filipino citizen. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for
making us feel that we are being cared and loved even outside our home, for reaching us out and
for directing us to the right path.
And most specially, we the graduates would like to acknowledge the benevolent presence
of our almighty father for His primordial loving and guiding force helped us translate His great
love to people with our hands.
Today as we had received our Rings and Pins, we are now accepting the great
responsibility of being a nurse, a nurse who fights for the rights of clients, a nurse who loves... a
nurse who cares.
Once again, Congratulations to everyone and Good Afternoon.
