Daphne Hermetic Oil the

innovative refrigeration oil

PVE Polyvinylether
Synthetical refrigeration oil
for commercial compressors
and HVAC systems

What is PVE?
Polyvinylether (PVE) is an innovative refrigeration oil developed by
Idemitsu that offers several advantages for hydrofluorocarbon
(HFC) refrigerant systems. The chemical chain of our PVE oil shows
similar characteristics to mineral oil (Hydrocarbon) with both good
lubricity and similar dialectic strength. In addition, the chemical
structures side chain has characteristics of PAG oil, with good
solubility and no hydrolysis.
Being ether-based, PVE is non-hydrolytic in nature, is a superior
lubricant, can be solubilized in process fluids and is miscible with
HFC refrigerants. Since PVE is a Polymer and the basic characteristics remain there is flexibility to alter viscosity and miscibility. Unlike
POE it is not necessary to change raw materials when changing
viscosity and miscibility. One more advantage of PVE is that water
content can be regulated to within a few hundred parts per million
so that filter dryers are not required for most HFC air conditioners.
These performance attributes can both directly and indirectly
positively contribute to the total cost of a refrigerant system.

Benefits
Non hydrolyic, unlike Polyolester (POE) lubricants (no reaction
with water)
Better solubility with process fluids
Superior resistance to capillary tube blockage due to the lack
of hydrolysis
Unsurpassed lubricity for greater wear protection
Compatible with all HFC refrigerants (R134a, R404A, R407C,
R410A etc.)
Optimal for non-dryer systems
Ideal for retrofitting HCFC (R22)
Tolerates residual mineral oil : Compressors dont need to be
flushed 100%

Longer life duration of the compressor

and longer interval duration between
the oil changes
PVE lubricant is more effective than POE

Because PVE is a polymer, its viscosity can be changed

The characteristics of PVE fluidity are shown in comparison with
viscosity grade
The viscosity-pressure coefficient (expressed in mm/sec) refers to
the change of viscosity with pressure
The viscosity index refers to the change of viscosity with temperature
