Black Powder House Rules

ARTILLERY
Horse Artillery: are permitted either free limbering or
unlimbering per turn.
Note: This reduces the standard rule allowance of both limbering and
unlimbering for free.

Heavy Guns: 9pdr through to 12pdr cannon receive a


firing penalty of -1 to hit if the firer's move at all
(unlimbering or man-handling).
9pdr receive +1 dice per battery when firing.
12pdr receive +2 dice per battery when firing.

INTERPENETRATION
No formation may interpenetrate the following
formations:
Infantry squares
Infantry or cavalry in column of attack
DISORDER
Disorder occurring through firing or melee can be rallied
against through an equivalent roll of six (d6) with the
morale (save) rolls. For every hit from a roll of six (d6)
which imposes disorder, a morale roll (save) of 6
removes the effect.

LIGHT INFANTRY
Designated Light Infantry formations, when deploying
skirmishers fire as the whole unit.
Note: They are more effective than normal mixed order troops.

FORM SQUARE
Units permitted to form square in response to charge
only succeed on a successful command role (penalties
apply). If they fail, they are disordered and not in
square.
Note: It is always better to use judgement and form square in your own
turn.
