THE CHURCH NEEDS FATHERS!
Joseph the Bible says was a father to
Pharoah (Genesis 45:8)
Fathers as we know play a vital role in
families as well as in our communities. Just
because you are an absentee father as a
result of divorce does not mean you cannot
be a father to your children. Being a father
is NOT limited to only your biological
children. My focus in writing this is to talk
about fathers in the Body of Christ.
An indication that fathering was a problem
goes way back to Pauls comment in
scripture:
1 Corinthians 4:15 - For though ye have
ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have
ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I
have begotten you through the gospel.
Too many in the Church want to be
teachers! Everyone feels that they are in a
position to tell others how to live, how to
pray, how to walk in faith, how to become
prosperous etc.
Its not that a teacher cannot be a father,
but there seems to be a big divide between
the two.
In the natural you know that your biological
children are prepared by society to move
away from the parents as they get older
and become self sufficient.
Well, this has become a problem within the
Church in that believers feel that as they
get more knowledgable about the word that
they dont need any one else to tell them
what and how to do things according to the
word.
Some children think they know better than
the parents and now want to tell them
things. Fathering in the Church perhaps
needs a fresh understanding and application
so that we can be better kingdom people.
