1. Game Rules
The HMSA Board reserves the right to change these rules at any time. Players will
be notified of these changes. All rules will be played fairly and accordingly to the
HMSA 2015 Co-Ed Volleyball Rules.
A. Basic Logistics
1. There will be a warm up session before every match starts.
2. When your team name is called on the court, all of your team members
must present a valid photo I.D. to check in with the referee. Refer to
Section
2, D, a
for acceptable valid photo I.D.s.
C. Referees
Referees will be captains from a different team that are not currently
playing a match. Team captains will ref for the bracket that they are not
playing in (the opposite bracket). All referees are expected to ref and use
their best judgement with respect and honesty. Failing to do so may result
in the removal of you and your team from the tournament. In the case that
a team captain cannot act as a referee, a HMSA Board Member or a
designated team captain will serve as an acting referee for that match.
2. Regulations
A. Registration Deadline
1. The deadline for early team registration is Friday July 24, 2015 at 11:59
pm.
2. Any team that does not pay the registration fee by Friday July 24, 2015
at 11:59pm will not be considered as registered early for the tournament
and will pay the late fee.
3. A team roster consisting of 6 to 7 players must be submitted to Kaochi
Pha in order to be registered.
4. Any team that registers after the deadline will have to pay a late fee of
$10 amounting to $70 total per team the day of the tournament.
5. Refunds may be made only under the following conditions:
a. The event is postponed due to weather conditions.
b. The event is cancelled.
B. Captains Meeting
1. Captains meetings will be at 8am of the day of the tournament at the
designated location. Any team captain that fails to attend the meeting will
be under review by the HMSA Board for their participation in the event.
C. Check-in
1. Team check-in will begin at 8:30 am.
2. Any teams who fail to check in by 9am will be under review by the
HMSA Board for their participation in the event and may be disqualified
from the tournament.
D. Team Regulations
1. A team may only have up to 7 people.
2. A team must have at least 2 males and 2 females on the court at all
times.
a. If a team loses a player(s), they will still be able to proceed with
the tournament with an exception made by HMSA.
3. Any changes to a team roster must be made by the captain and by 9am
the day of the tournament.

b. A valid photo I.D. is required for a roster change.
i. A valid photo I.D. includes: MN Drivers License, MN
Government Issued I.D., high school or college I.D., and
passport.
E. Conduct
1
. Penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct:
i. Offense 1-Warning.
ii. Offense 2-Removal from game.
iii. Offense 3-Disqualification from tournament.
2. Any team who breaks the rules or fails to follow the rules and
regulations will be disqualified from the tournament.
3. Tournament Format
A. First Round: Group Stage
1. Teams will be distributed into selected groups for the first round.
2. Teams will have to play against all members of their designated group in
best of 3 sets.
3. The top two (first seed and second seed) teams of each group moves to
the second round of the tournament.
C. Championship Round
1. Two teams who win the semi-final matches will advance to the 1st place
championship match.
2. Losing teams of the semi-final matches will advance to the 3rd place
championship match.
