Resumen
Summary
Bruner's ideas changed the movement of educational reform in the states during the 60
His book, the process of education, from 1961, was and remains one of the most accepted
educational guides. Bruner has been involved since then in many educational enterprises.
Learning is an active process, social in which students construct new ideas or concepts
based on current knowledge. The student selects the information originates hypotheses,
and makes decisions in the process of integrating experiences into their existing mental
constructs.
So the instruction, the instructor should try and encourage students to discover principles
by themselves. The instructor and student should engage in an active dialogue.
According to Jerome Bruner, teachers must provide problem situations that encourage
students to discover for themselves, the structure of the subject material. Structure refers
to the fundamental ideas, relationships or patterns of materials; that is, to essential
information. The specific facts and details are not part of the structure. Bruner believes that
learning in the classroom can take place inductively. Inductive reasoning means spending
details and examples to the formulation of a general principle. In discovery learning, the
teacher presents specific examples and students work well until they discover the
interactions and structure of the material.
