The Role
Essential Functions:
1. Manage the Operations of the Billing System servers Infrastructure for all th
e platforms including Operation, Sales, Customer Care, Finance and Marketing. Ad
ministrating of all HW/ platform/ Operating systems and back up and archiving sy
stems.
2. Manage the design and growth of the Billing System HW/OS/Backup requirements
for the company based on the new and growing business needs.
3. Manage the performance of the various Billing System platforms by monitoring
and tuning using enterprise IT tools and methodologies and by setting up perform
ance goals and guidelines to the entire team.
4. Maximise the availability of the various Mission critical and business critic
al systems by proactive diagnosis, planning and maintenance activities to reduce
unplanned downtimes.
5. Evaluate and deploy proper Backup / Restore strategies with clear vision of d
isaster and crisis handling mechanisms to minimize the impact on business for an
y untoward reasons.
6. Plan and execute the implementation of the various existing and new platforms
for handling business critical services with current and future requirements in
mind.
7. Analyse business project requirements, evaluate proposals and design appropri
ate solutions for ensuring accurate site integration between the various systems
and in accordance to our defined Billing/IT policies. Evaluate vendor quotation
s and regulate appropriate purchase requisitions.
8. Devise policies for the various Billing System tasks to implement Quality as
a paradigm and put to practice and pursue for the current and future projects to
ensure data security, disaster recovery amongst others.
9. Manage the Support, Maintenance and Licensing for the various UNIX and databa
se systems to enable their continuous service for the business
Requirements
Knowledge Skills and Experience:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Telecommunications
Minimum of 8 years experience in handling mission critical environments involvin
g various UNIX flavours and databases with a strong understanding of basic conce
pts
Adequate exposure to Enterprise products like AIX Servers, NetBackup, Robotic Ta
pe Libraries, SAN Storage products
Supervisory, team leadership potential
Excellent written and oral English skills
Strong planning, analytical and problem solving skills
Structural thinking with enough flexibility and having a quite non stop follow u
p character
System Administration, Operations and Maintenance background with fully reportin
g attitude in Unix environment operations
