PTF Service Pack Release 28 for iTERA HA 6.0

Abstract
The latest PTF Service Pack for iTERA HA v6.0 is now available. This Service Pack includes fixes that address
multiple customer-driven Change Requests. Vision Solutions strongly recommends that you install Service Pack
28 and run the Upgrade Readiness Report utility prior to upgrading to v6.1. The utility will help ensure a
successful upgrade. Instructions for using the utility are included in the iTERA Availability v6.1 Upgrade Guide.
Service Pack product installers, including the iTERA HA v6.0 Installation Wizard and the iTERA HA v6.0 ISO
installer, will remain at the 6.0.27 level. Customers should utilize the electronic PTF process (ITINSTPTF) or the
cumulative DVD to upgrade to 6.0.28 from any prior service pack level. There are no XP PTFs in this Service
Pack.

PTF Service Pack 28

All Required i5 IBM PTFs

If you have not yet installed Service Pack 09 (released July 2010), there are special installation procedures.
Carefully follow the instructions in this section to apply PTFs. Each item in the bulleted list below is appended with
a note indicating whether it applies to SP 9 only or to the PTF installation process in general. The instructions in
the chapter How to Get and Apply iTERA HA PTFs (now located in the iTERA HA v6.0 User Guide) should
always be used for PTF installation. The following items are reiterations and exceptions to those instructions.

All iTERA HA users must sign off all nodes. No iTERA HA menus can be accessed during PTF
application (SP 09 only).

The iTERA HA subsystem must be ended on all nodes during the PTF apply process. (The subsystem
may be operational during download/retrieval, but it must be ended for the apply portion.) (Do this always
for all SPs.)

The Cross Product PTFs must be applied prior to iTERA HA PTFs. (Do this always for all SPs.)

PTFs 0XP0725 and 0XP0723 will reflect as not applied because the iTERA HA menu is allocated. Sign
off after Cross Product PTFs have been applied, wait 60 seconds, then sign back on (SP 09 only).

The following message may be received between the time that Cross Product PTFs are applied and sign
off (SP 09 only):

The following interactive jobs will keep some Vision PTFs from applying [list of jobs]. If one of those
sessions is in the process of applying the PTFs, please allow the PTFs to finish installing, and then sign off
all the listed jobs. Allow 1 minute before signing back on. Press Enter to continue.

If the message is received, press Enter to continue. Allow Cross Product PTFs to finish applying, sign
off, wait 60 seconds, and then sign on.

In order to prevent the break messages from being displayed entirely, you may apply Cross Product
PTFs using the ITERAOWNER or QSECOFR profile, setting the library list in this order: QTEMP,
ITHA (or ITE2), ITXP43, QGPL and then executing the PTF apply procedure using the ITINSTPTF
command from the command line instead of using the menu options in the iTERA HA menu. (iTERA
HA and iTERA Alert PTFs can be loaded using the iTERA HA Admin profile; there is no menu access
restriction.)

Continue with the normal application of iTERA HA and iTERA Alert PTFs, as documented in How to
Get and Apply iTERA HA PTFs.

Reminder

The system value QALWOBJRST must be set to *ALL. Use the command WRKSYSVAL QALWOBJRST
to verify the setting.

Licensing
iTERA HA PTF Service Pack 03 introduced a new license key procedure. New license keys are required for
Service Pack 03 and later. If PTF Service Pack 03 has already been applied on your systems and license keys
have been successfully applied, then subsequent Service Packs can be installed, as indicated in the chapter
"How to Get and Apply iTERA HA PTFs", located in the iTERA HA v6.0 User Guide, available from Support
Central. However, if Service Pack 03 has not been applied, apply the PTFs as indicated in the document, then
during the PTF apply process, if a valid key cannot be retrieved automatically (usually because your IBM i
systems cannot access the Vision Website to automatically retrieve the required license key) a screen message
will be displayed. At that point, you must follow the instructions in this announcement to manually retrieve the new
license keys then continue to apply the remaining available PTFs.

Entitlement Wizard Instructions

You do not need to run the Entitlement Wizard if at least Service Pack 03 is installed on your systems. Otherwise,
the Entitlement Wizard must be run in order to validate your systems in preparation for the new licensing module.
If you do not run it and submit the requested information it may significantly delay the PTF installation process.
After running the Entitlement Wizard, allow at least two business days before proceeding with the installation of
the Service Pack.
1. Go to the website http://portal.visionsolutions.com/ExtLogin.aspx and log in with your user name and
password. If you have not yet obtained a user name and password, click the Sign up button and follow
the on-screen instructions.
2. Click "iTERA HA" from the left panel.
3. Click the Customer Care link.

4. 6.0 is displayed in the version drop-down box; click License Keys.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions for the Entitlement Wizard (execute either the automated or manual
procedure). To execute the automated wizard, click the Entitlement Wizard link on the left panel.

License Key Instructions

Use the instructions detailed in the chapter How to Get and Apply iTERA HA PTFs, located in the iTERA HA
v6.0 User Guide, to apply the PTFs in this service pack.
The instructions for installing PTFs have not changed. However, if during the installation of PTFs the following
screen is displayed, it indicates your system was not able to automatically retrieve an LKP file from the Vision
Solutions server and you will need to follow the instructions below. If you do not receive the screen below, and
have successfully applied all PTFs, disregard the remainder of this section.

Note: Leave this screen displayed while you execute the License Download Wizard described in subsequent
steps. If you need to cancel out of this screen for any reason, Use the command UPDLICKEY to redisplay this
screen. The PTFs will not be applied until the license key update process has completed.

1. Sign on to Support Central and download the Vision Solutions License Download Wizard to your PC. The
file name is LicenseDownload.jar and it is located in the CustomerCare Downloads section for iTERA HA.
The file is also located in the IFS on your system in the E2LICDOWNLOAD folder and you may copy it to
your PC from that location, if you prefer.
/E2LICDOWNLOAD/LicenseDownload.jar
The License Download Wizard requires the following:

Java version 1.4 or higher. If you do not have Java installed, download it from here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Your PC must be able to access both the Internet and your IBM i systems.

The License Download Wizard will not work if run on a PC that is accessing the IBM i through a
VPN connection.

The wizard must be run on all systems that have iTERA HA v6.0 installed and need the license keys
updated. Repeat the following instructions for each system (can be run simultaneously).
2. Click the file to execute the wizard. The following screen is displayed. Follow the on-screen instructions,
then click Sign on.

3. Upon successful log in, the following screen is displayed. Read the on-screen instructions, select iTERA
HA v6.0 then click Next.

4. The following screen will be displayed while the wizard runs.

5. The wizard will automatically execute the processes listed on the left side of the panel. When finished,
click Finish.

6. Return to your open 5250 session, where the Update License Keys screen should still be displayed (if
you exited the screen, execute the command UPDLICKEY to redisplay it).
7. Press F16. The following screen is displayed. Type an ampersand (&) and press Enter to lengthen the
input field (do this twice).

8. Type the following on the LKP path and file name input field:
/VISIONSOLUTIONS/LICENSEKEYS/IT_VISIONSOLUTIONS.LKP
9. Press Enter.
10. PTF installation will continue, unless you had exited the Update License Keys screen. If that is the case,
repeat the PTF installation process to apply all remaining PTFs (for Cross Product, iTERA HA, and iTERA
Alert). Validate PTF installation by comparing applied PTFs with the list below.

PTF Cover Letter Detail Descriptions
