3.12

Fire and Gas System

3.12.1

Fire & Gas system within the enclosure shall be provided by VENDOR. The following
requirements shall be considered as minimum.

Three (3) nos. of Point Type IR Combustible Gas Detector at each enclosure
ventilation air intake.

Three (3) nos. of Point Type IR Combustible Gas Detector at each enclosure
ventilation air outlet.

Heat and flame detector per VENDOR standard

3.12.2

VENDOR shall confirm that the number/ type and location of detectors are adequate to
cover the enclosure based on their experience. Additional detectors (type/number/location),
if required, shall be provided by VENDOR.

3.12.3

The fire detection system shall be designed in accordance with NFPA 72E.

3.12.4

3.13

Fire Suppression System

3.13.1

The fire suppression system for the enclosure shall be of water-mist type as per NFPA 750.
2 x 100% racks (main and back-up reserve) for the water-mist fire suppression system,
complete in all respects, shall be provided by the VENDOR.

3.13.2

VENDOR shall ensure that the design, supply and construction of the water mist system to
be provided for EDG enclosure are fully independent system with no tie-ins to platform fire
water system.

3.13.3

The system shall include, as per the standard, skid mounted steel cylinders of water and
charged nitrogen cylinders, with quick release valves manifolded together for simultaneous
release, distribution pipe work, release nozzles, associated instrumentation, manual water
cylinder refilling pump and filters.

3.13.4

The fire suppression system shall include the control and monitoring system.

3.13.5

Activation of Water Mist Release will be initiated by the package's F&G System, which is
mounted inside the package's UCP located in IER. Manual activation shall be provided at
the skid and the cabinet (without the need to open the cabinet door). Failure to discharge
the main system shall automatically result in the discharge of the reserves system.

3.13.6

It is envisaged that the water-mist fire suppression system racks / cabinets will be located
away from the EDG skid due to layout constraints. The piping between the water-mist fire
suppression system racks / cabinets and EDG will be by others. Hence suitable interface
nozzles for effecting such connections shall be provided by the VENDOR.

3.14

Piping Requirements

3.14.1

All piping within the package shall be designed as per ASME 31.3. All connections at the
battery limit shall terminate with flanges as per ASME B16.5 for further CONTRACTOR
piping.

3.14.2

All necessary venting and draining arrangement shall be considered and supplied for the
equipment for start-up, operation, shutdown and maintenance.

3.14.3

VENDOR is encouraged to follow the Specifications for Piping design standard (Doc. No:
1014-BKTNG-PI-SP-0002) as far as practical. However, VENDOR can supply their standard
