rected by Rajesh Shera, the
Film and Television Institute
(FTII) passout has added anoth-
er feather in its cap.After win-
ning critical acclaim in various
film festivals across the globe,
the movie has been selected for
the prestigious Global Lens
2010 for exhibition in North
America. Ocean of an Old Man
is first film weaven around the
life and customs of people in
Andaman. Global Film Initia-
tive (GFI), a company based in
US has bought the rights of the
film paving the way for show-
ing at renowned Museum of
Modern Art (MoMA) in New
York.

n the lines of Sunburn, an
electronic music festival that
takes place annually in Goa,
the three-day Kingfisher Ultra 1 Re-
public Festival will start tonight at
1 Lounge.
Into its second year now, the
event has an impressive line-up.
That apart, the proceeds from the
festival will be donated to an NGO
and other social causes and is also
poised to support women’s empow-
erment — the reason why two fe-
male DJs — Kini and Domino will
be performing.
“Apart from the music, we have
also planned a deejaying workshop.
Jerome Isma-Ae, the artiste from
Munich will be a part of the work-
shop,” says Diya Jadega, founder of
Shankh and one of the organisers.
Jerome runs his own label, Jeep-
roductions and is known for com-
ing out with a distinctive progres-
sive tribal sound.
“Local DJs, Ashtrix and Durgesh
will also be playing at the music
fest,” reveals Diya. To fill you in,
Brute Force aka Tuhin is performing
tonight, Jerome on January 23 and
DJ Kini and Domino on January 24.
