TITLE SALES AND DISTRIBUTION OF PAPER NAPKINS
INDUSTRY PAPER INDUSTRY

Paper Napkin has been chosen as the topic for this project on Sales and Distribution as it poses a
peculiar challenge in terms of the large unorganized sector it possesses. There are a variety of
paper napkins that are available in the market nowadays and are used in the most high end to the
low end of products. For example, a paper napkin will be present in the The Bukhara restaurant
of ITC Maurya and will also be present with the golgappa vendor on the streets of a semi-urban
setting in Delhi. These 2 places of presence of paper napkins is through 2 very different channels
of distribution and both the channels pose very different challenges in terms of price sensitivity
of buyers, number of intermediaries, margins etc.
The following objectives are what the group would like to achieve as a part of this project
1. The entire supply chain of paper napkins right from the manufacturing to the last mile
delivery into the customers hands.
2. Selling process of the paper napkins at each and every level in the entire supply chain.
3. Role of individual agents in the distribution network of paper napkins.
4. Study the semi-organized distribution network of the paper napkin manufacturer
Etiquette.
5. The buying and selling intricacies in paper napkins.
6. Time taken by the paper napkins to move from one stage to the other in the distribution
network.

Types of Eco Labels in Tissue Papers

Type I: ISO 14024
This type of eco-label is one where the criteria are set by third parties (not the
manufacturer). They are in theory based on life cycle1 impacts and are typically based on
pass/fail criteria.
Type II: ISO 14021

These are based on the manufacturers or retailers own declarations. These are 100%
recycled.
Type III: ISO 14025
These claims give quantitative details of the impact of the product based on its life cycle.
Sometimes known as EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations), these labels are based
on an independent review of the life cycle of the product. The data supplied by the
manufacturing companies are also independently reviewed. The most well known example
in the paper industry is the Paper Profile. You can tell a Paper Profile meets the Type III
requirements when the verifiers logo is included on the document
