Official name: China's official name is ZhonghuaRenminGongheguo


(People's Republic of China). On October 1, 1949, Communist Party
Chairman Mao Zedong proclaimed the establishment of the People's
Republic of China.
2. Capital city: Beijing, formerly known as Peking, is the capital of
China.
In Chinese, Beijing means 'northern capital'.
3. National Day: The National Day of the People's Republic of China is
celebrated every year on October 1 and alsocelebrated as the National
Holiday all over China. The National Day marks the start of only one of
the golden weeks in the China.
4. Colonial power: China was never colonized, western countries simply
seized bits of it (for example, Hong Kong) to further their own needs.
The whole country was probably considered too big (and after the
boxer rebellions, too unruly) to colonize with much success.
5. Neighboring country: China is the world's third largest country
based on area. China is bordered by 14 different countries. These are
Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Myanmar, Afghanistan,
Laos, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, North Korea and Bhutan.
6. Geographical location: China is Located in Southeast Asia with an
area of 9.6 million square kilometers and a coastline of 18,000
kilometers. China is bordered in the east by the East China Sea, Korea
Bay, Yellow Sea, Taiwan Strait, and South China Sea. China is divided
into 5 homogeneous physical macro-regions: Eastern China
(subdivided into the Northeast plain, north plain, and southern hills),
Xinjiang-Mongolia, and the Tibetan highlands.
7. About flag: The flag of China was officially adopted on October 1,
1949. The red of the Chinese flag symbolizes the communist
revolution, and it is the traditional color of the people. The large gold
star represents communism, while the four smaller stars represent the
social classes of the people.

8. Current Leaders: The Communist party leader Xi Jinping has been


appointed as Chinas President on 14 March 2013. Li Keqiang is the
current Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

9. History based on political system: One of the significant features


of the national culture of China is collectivism or low individualism.
Many research confirmed that the Chinese are collective subjects, with
the characteristics of group orientation. After the fall of empire,
Chinas political landscape changed dramatically. At start of 21st
century, China has become major global force after World War 2 .Five
Chinese leaders who helped to shape the most populous nation on
Earth. 1. Qin Shi Huang (221-210 B.C.) 2. Kublai Khan (1279-1294)
3. Sun Yat-sen (1912) 4. Mao Zedong (1949-1976) 5. Deng Xiaoping
(1978-1989).

Economic system: The Chinese economy is a mixed economy
that is referred to officially as "Socialism with Chinese Characteristics".
We know that when public vs. private ownership exists in any country
we call it mixed economy. This system mixes Leninist planned
economics that means all land is owned by the state and is leased to
companies and private individuals by the government; State-Owned
Enterprises. Many partially privatized take a major role in heavy
industry and crucial infrastructure with a market based system
(especially in light manufacturing and service industries, as well as
agriculture).
11. Legal system: The Republic of China mainly follows civil law system.

Law in China has been a complex mix of traditional Chinese


approaches and Western influences. Its legal system has been based
on the Confucian philosophy of social control through moral education,
as well as the Legalist emphasis on codified law and criminal sanction.
The establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949 brought
with it a more Soviet-influenced system of socialist law.
