THE ALPHA CENTER- Alpha Center has a teaching position open for our 3-year
old class. If you know someone please let them know to call Jan Howell at 706
491 4943. This position is 3 days a week--Monday, Wednesday, Friday--from 8am
to 12pm. There is some time required for planning. We have openings for
children for the 3 year old and 2 year old classes. You can go on line at
lumcalphacenter.com to register or call Jan Howell @ 706 491 4943.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Harmony House Child Advocacy Center is in need of
volunteers/interns who could give a few hours each week. Volunteers must be 18
or older. A criminal background history and a two hour orientation training is
necessary. This is the perfect opportunity for someone going or currently enrolled
in college, who is exploring either Psychology, Social Work and/or Criminal
Justice degrees. Community volunteers are always needed and welcomed. Many
opportunities of service are available. Please call with questions and/or to
volunteer. You may ask for Wendy Chitwood at (706) 245-8700.
FOOD 4 KIDS/ Our mission is to provide simple kid friendly single serve food
items each weekend to Lavonia area elementary school children who are in food
insecure households. Ideal food items are things an elementary student can open
and consume without parental assistance. Some examples include pop tarts, fruit
cups, pudding cups, granola bars, snack crackers, applesauce cups, pop top
pastas, beanie weanies, vienna sausages, small pop top soups, saltine crackers,
and peanut butter.
LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE OUTREACH PROGRAM CALLED ANGEL
FEET This program is an effort to help children in our community who need new
shoes and socks. We accept referrals from faculty and staff at Lavonia
Elementary, Carnesville Primary, and Carnesville Intermediate. The program is
funded by the members of the Circle and donations from others. We accept
monetary donations rather than shoes. We do not have a place to store shoes,
and we wait to purchase shoes until we have a referral. Thank you for helping us
spread the word about our mission.
THE FOOD PANTRY/ Jesus said we will always have the poor with us, and so we
do. They need our help. We can help simply bring food for the Pantry to church
with you, place it in the containers provided and I will see that it gets to the pantry
where it will be distributed to the needy. Our constant needs are: cereal, mac and
cheese, canned fruits and meats, picnic condiments. I thank each of you for your
Christian love. LuAnn Reiff
