BS Civil Engineering
BS Civil Engineering is a four year degree program offered by
the department of Civil Engineering culminating in a 16 year
Civil Engineering degree. Major details of the program are
mentioned below.
Admission Requirements

Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry securing at least
60% marks in aggregate

Diploma of Associate Engineer Examination in Civil

Accreditation
The BS Civil Engineering degree program is approved by the
Pakistan Engineering Council.

The Department of Civil Engineering is devoted to ensure the

best learning of its students. The department is an arena of
experienced highly qualified faculty who teach the updated
courses under Outcome Based Education (OBE) system
supported by well-established laboratories. The
laboratories, developed in a short time, are furnished with
extremely delicate, high-precision, heavy duty industrial
equipment, for example, European make 20,000 kN ServoHydraulic Machine (UTM), 50 feet long heavy-section Flow
Channel, Italian make 50 kN tension/compression Triaxial
machine etc. Although the standards achieved so far are
incomparable at the national level, the avidity for excellence
is not over yet, the department is still on its course to
compete with well-renowned international institutes.

Degree Requirements
Each candidate for the BS Civil Engineering degree is required
to successfully complete the survey camp and internship as
well as to earn 136 credit hours (Cr. Hrs. ) as per the

PROSPECTUS

i) Civil Engineering Project

After completion of 90 Cr. Hrs., students are required to
register for the Civil Engineering Project (Part-I) of 2 Cr. Hrs
in the 7th semester of their degree program. Civil
Engineering Project (Part-II) of 4 Cr. Hrs can be taken in the
next semester provided Civil Engineering Project (Part-I) has
been successfully completed.
j) Industrial Internship
After completion of 90 SCH, it is mandatory for students to
participate in an 8 week summer internship program
following their 6th semester.

k) Survey Camp
Students are required to register, attend and successfully
complete a 2-3 weeks Survey Camp following the fourth
semester of their degree program.
Program Duration
This is a four year degree program comprising of 8
semesters. There will be a Fall and a Spring semester in each
year. The Summer semester will be utilized for internships or
deficiency courses. The maximum duration to complete BS
Civil Engineering degree is 07 years.

PhD Civil Engineering

The PhD Program in Civil Engineering is designed to foster

research in the fields of:
a. Water Resources Engineering and Management
(WRE&M).
b. Structural Engineering (SE).
The department has got close liaison with industry and R&D
organizations to support its research activities. A PhD
scholar can complete the program in 3-5 years.
Admission Requirements
Eighteen (18) years of education will be compulsory for
admission in PhD program with following conditions:

Degree Requirements
A PhD candidate shall be awarded the degree on fulfillment of
the following conditions:
a) 18 Cr. Hrs. Course Work with CGPA > 3
b) Comprehensive Examination (written and oral)
c) 30 Cr. Hrs. Research Work
d) Synopsis defense
e) Foreign Evaluation
f) Local Defense
g) Publication/Acceptance of at least one research
