OXYGEN BANK PROJECT- A GREEN TEMPLE

INITIATIVE.
NURTURE NATURE.CARE FOR THE FUTURE!
Trees are a fundamental to life on Earth. The way Trees are being cut the day is not
far away when people will be dying for want of fresh air and new generations will be
carrying oxygen masks to sustain the life and perhaps venturing out in open will be a
luxury. Lets make a difference before such a situation arises. Let us Plant more trees.

Max Temperatures recorded in some Indian cities in 2014.

Lucknow 47 degrees
Delhi 47 degrees
Agra 45 degrees
Nagpur 46 degrees
Kota 48 degrees
Hyderabad 45 degrees
Pune 42 degrees
Ahmedabad 46 degrees
Next year these cities will cross 50 degrees. Why is it so hot ?????
In last 10 years over 10 crore trees were cut for widening roads and highways. But not
enough trees have been planted to compensate.
OXYGEN BANK PROJECT- AN INITIATIVE OF THE GREEN TEMPLE.
COST OF A LIFETIME OXYGEN SUPPLY:

IN ONE DAY A HUMAN BEING BREATHES OXYGEN EQUIVLENT TO 3

CYLINDERS.

EACH CYLINDER COST APPROX 700 RS WITHOUT SUBSIDY.

SO IN A DAY ONE USES OXYGEN WORTH 2100RS. AND FOR A YEAR IT IS

7,66,500 RS.

FOR AN AVERAGE LIFE SPAN OF 65 YRS IT COST A WHOPPING SUM OF 50

MILLION.

ALL THIS OXYGEN WE CAN GET FOR FREE FROM TREES.

Research shows that a minimum of 10 trees can fulfill this requirement of oxygen for a
whole lifetime.
So let us begin our investment by planting trees.
WHY ARE TREES IMPORTANT?
1. Trees prevent soil erosion, are pretty vital in maintaining and regulating most
water cycles, and help check global warming by using carbon dioxide in
photosynthesis.
2. Trees combat the greenhouse effectGlobal warming is the result of excess greenhouse gases, created by burning
fossil fuels and destroying tropical rainforests. Heat from the sun, reflected back
from the earth, is trapped in this thickening layer of gases, causing global
temperatures to rise. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a major greenhouse gas. Trees
absorb CO2, removing and storing the carbon while releasing the oxygen back
into the air. In one year, an acre of mature trees absorbs the amount of CO2
produced when you drive your car 26,000 miles.
3. Trees clean the air:
Trees absorb odors and pollutant gases (nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulfur
dioxide and ozone) and filter particulates out of the air by trapping them on their
leaves and bark.
4. Trees provide oxygen:

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

There are 3 ways of going about planting trees.
1. Self plant 10 trees
2. Gift 10 fruit bearing trees to villagers who can benefit economically.
3. Involve educational institutes, corporates or NGOs
