When you speaking on the telephone line, it is most useful the English spelling code letters, for example
to spell the wordsABACUS you must read the spelling codes: Alpha, Babies, Alpha, Charlie, Uniform,
and Singapore. It is the corrected spelling codes letters.

1- SINE IN and SINE OUT


1.1-Agent sine in:
Abacus system has six working areas- A, B, C, D, E, and F in each Computer Reservation Terminal
(CRT) the benefits of having more than one work area are:
Enable the users to work on different transactions/ tasks concurrently without one transaction interring with
the other.
1.2-Sine in to one work area:
Using such a sine in capability, you will be able to access the flight availability, create and work on
Reservation etc.
1-To sine in one work area:
Format: SI (4 digit identification number)

1.3-Sine in to all working areas:
The previous entry allows you to sine in to one area only. However, there is a way to sine in to all six-work
Areas simultaneously.

1.4-Sine in to another working area:


When you are already in area A and would like to sine-in to another work area without having to sine-out of
area A, you can simply change work area and sine -in to the desired area.

1.5-Changing to working areas:


Sometimes it is necessary to change work areas in order as not to disrupt whatever work in the current area.
Especially when you have a live PNR in one work area and need to do some other transaction for another
client, for instance issuing a ticket.
Before changing the working areas, you must ensure already sinned in to all work areas in order to be
able to perform a switch.
1-To switch from one working Area to another Area:

Any time you leave a terminal, the CRT should be sine-out for security reasons. This will prevent
someone from accidentally or intentionally modifying data or your PNR, using your sine-in code.

2.11-Levels of participation:
There are basically four levels of participation for the airlines, which have agreements with ABACUS
to display their availability in the system. An airline may participate is more than one level.
The four levels of participation for the airline agreements with ABACUS system are:
1-Full Availability (0)
2-Answer Back (AB)
3-Direct Connect Sell (DC)
4-Direct Connect Availability (DCA)
1- Full Availability:
This is the lowest level of participation that airlines may choose to participate with ABACUS.
1- Teletype message is sent to airline upon ET of the PNR. The airline will not respond with the Secondary
RLOC is returned.
2- The airline has 12 hrs may cancel the segment, without supporting reasons. However after the first
12hrs, the airline should honour the booking made. If the segment is cancelled after the first 12hs,
the reasons should be given and such cancellations will be returned to the agent as a HX or US status code.

3.5-Arrival unknown (ARNK) segment:
Sometimes passengers in the middle of their itinerary, may choose to use other means of transportation,
such as train, bus or boat, to travel between two cities. Thus, causes a gap in the itinerary and unable to
end transaction. In order to completed the itinerary, and end transaction, an ARNK segment must be
input to fill-up the gap.

Note: An infant input name must be separated from adult, a child name. An infant name must be

6- THE HOST HELP SYSTEM


6.1-Host help system (FOX):
The FOX function is to assist you in finding formats. It contains format on all subject as well as detailed
information pertaining to the formats. It is a quick and easy way to obtain immediate information on
Abacus formats. It can actually be compared to formats in a guidebook. The FOX entries provide for
many displays from various formats.
1-To access fox three are 3 Levels:
Level 1- Main Function List (Table of contains)
Level 2- Formats of a specific item in level 1
Level 3- Detail information for the specific format in level 2.

7- THE TIMATIC SYSTEM


7.1-Introduction:
The TIMATIC service provides to Abacus users with access to a database-containing passport, visa,
health and other travel related information for travellers free of charge.

The TIMATIC service is developed by the TIM (Travel Information Manual) group of airlines that is
representative by IATA Netherlands Data Publications.

You may use this information to advise your clients of the appropriate travel documents needed to
avoid travel delays.

The information is updated in the TIMATIC database continually and represents the most current
information available. But because of the before changing situation around the world, TIMAIC cannot
accept liability for inaccurate or incomplete information.
