Lesson objectives:
1. Speaking skills: by the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to introduce themselves.
2. Listening skills: by the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to listen, recognize and point
to the characters that are speaking.
3. Other skills: pupils will recognize members of the Star family, pupils will learn to work
in a pair and take turns speaking.

Preparation: before the class starts, the teacher opens the windows, makes light in the
classroom, arranges all the pupils chairs/ desks in semi-circle, makes sure the CD player works
and all the tracks are in order and places all the necessary materials on the desk.

ACTIVITY 1: Warmer
Aim: Getting acquainted and getting familiar with the vocabulary
Procedure and interaction:
1. The teacher greets the pupils and presents him/herself by saying: Hello, I`m (states
his/her name). The teacher points to him/herself.
2. The teacher goes up to each of the pupils in turn, repeats the greeting and elicits it from
the pupils with their names.
Timing: 6`
ACTIVITY 2: Presentation
Aim: Introducing the characters
Procedure and interaction:
1. The teacher shows the pupils, one by one the flashcards with the characters, saying their
names and then sticking them on the board.
2. After all the flashcards are on the board, the teacher points to each one of them again and
says the characters` names.
3. The pupils repeat the names after the teacher.

ACTIVITY 3: PB 2, Activity 1. Listen and point


Aim: Identifying the characters by their names
Procedure and interaction:
1. The teacher asks the pupils to open their Pupil`s Books at page 2. The teacher holds up
the book to make sure the pupils have the right page.
2. The teacher points to one of the flashcards. Pupils point to the same character in their
books. This action is repeated for 3 more flashcards.
3. Pupils are told to listen and point. The cd is played. Pupils point to the characters in
their books as they introduce themselves. The teacher checks by pointing to the correct
flashcard on the board.

ACTIVITY 4: Practice
Aim: Identifying and pointing to the characters.
Procedure and interaction:
1. The teacher sticks the flashcards around the room.
2. Pupils are asked to point to a character.
3. The game is repeated for all the other characters. The pace of the game can be slowly
increased.

ACTIVITY 5: AB 2, Activity 1. Match
Aim: Working in pairs
Procedure and interaction:
1. Pupils are asked to open their Activity Book at page 2.
2. The teacher shows the example from the book (Suzy).
3. Pupils work individually and match the other five pictures.
4. Pupils check in pairs by taking turns at pointing and naming the characters.
5. The teacher checks by holding up the book, saying the name and pointing.

ACTIVITY 6: PB 2, Activity 2. Listen, point and repeat.
Aim: Listening, identifying, pointing and repeating; testing the pupils` memory
Procedure and interaction:
1. Pupils are asked to look at page 2 in their Pupils Book. The teacher says Listen, point
and repeat.
2. The CD is played. Pupils point to the characters in their books. The CD is paused after
each name so that the pupils can repeat it in chorus.

ACTIVITY 7: AB 2, Activity 2. Listen and circle the tick or cross.


Aim: Pair work
Procedure and interaction:
1. The teacher demonstrates the exercise by displaying the Simon flashcard on the board
and drawing a tick and a cross next to it. Explains that the tick is for yes and the cross
for no. Pointing to the flashcard the teacher says: This is Marie. Pupils respond by
shaking their heads. The teacher circles the cross.
2. Pupils are told to listen and circle the tick or cross. The CD is played. Pupils check in
pairs, taking turns at pointing and saying the names of the characters. The CD is played
and stopped after each one in order to check.

ACTIVITY 8: Extra activity 1 (Teacher`s Book/ 105). Guessing game


Aim: Making sure that pupils have fun and are learning with pleasure
Procedure and interaction:
1. The 8 flashcards are placed face down on the desk.
2. The teacher takes one card and holds it facing himself/ herself and asks Who`s this?
3. Pupils take turns to guess.
4. They are shown the flashcard when they guess correctly.
5. This action is repeated for other 4 or 5 cards.
Timing: 5`
ACTIVITY 9: Ending lesson
Aim: Ending the lesson in an interactive way and making sure the pupils have learned something
Procedure and interaction:
1. The teacher places on the board the flashcard representing Monty. Pupils point and say
the name in chorus.
2. The CD is played: CD 1, 02 MONTY: Hello, I`m Monty. What`s your name?. The
teacher points to him/herself and replies: Hello, I`m. .Then, the teacher points to each
pupil and each pupil presents him/ herself.
3. CD is played again: CD 1, 02 SUZY, STELLA AND SIMON: Goodbye. Pupils say
goodbye in chorus.
