Falls, Germantown
police investigating
burglaries
Menomonee Falls and Germantown Police issued
statements July 13-14 regarding a string of daytime burglaries that have occurred in the area.
According to a statement from Menomonee Falls
Police, the suspects back a stolen vehicle into a driveway. One of the suspects will then ring the doorbell. If
there is no answer, the suspects will enter the residence
through an unlocked door or force entry. If a person
does answer the door, the suspect will provide the name
of a fictitious person they are trying to contact and then
leave. The suspect will then try to the same situation elsewhere.
"The suspects should be considered armed,"
Menomonee Falls Police said in a statement. "When a
victim confronted a suspect removing a screen from an
open window, one of the suspects brandished a firearm.
The suspects are stealing electronics, cash, jewelry, and
vehicles."
Anyone experiencing a similar occurrence at a residence in Menomonee Falls or noticing suspicious activity in a Menomonee Falls Neighborhood should contact
Menomonee Falls Police at (262) 532-1700.
In a separate statement, Germantown Police said
they are investigating an attempted daytime burglary
that occurred between 11 a.m. and noon July 13 near
the intersection of Pilgrim Road and Hudson Drive.
Germantown Police also stated the suspects are believed
to be "armed and extremely dangerous. Residents need
to stay alert and for any suspicious activity in the area."
Germantown Police also requested that residents
report any suspicious activity to their department.

A Closer Look at Arena Funding

BY REP. DAN KNODL
(R-GERMANTOWN)
Now that the state budget is over, it is
time to take a look at funding for the new
arena in Milwaukee. I have decided to
support the Legislatures plan to keep the
Bucks, as it is going to be prudent for the
state to do so, instead of letting them
leave and the state being on the hook for
the outdated Bradley Center.
The Bradley Center, while created
with good intent, has become a financial
burden. Millions of dollars in debt service and maintenance payments are set to
be due if the Bucks leave. As we are currently bringing in more tax revenue than
we are paying for debt service and maintenance on the existing building, keeping
the Bucks here will allow for us to continue to bring in a positive cash flow.
We also expect to see revenue
increases in the near future. One example of cash flow that is projected to see
further growth is the levied tax on traveling sports business professionals, also
known as the jock tax. Due to a new
nine-year television deal that takes effect
in 2016-17, there will be an increase in
the salaries of players. The increase in
salaries will lead to higher tax revenues
from the jock tax. Take LeBron James,
who is due to make $22.9 million for the

Dear Dr. Winter, I need implants in my upper and lower

arches. I have had several consultations and opinions all over
the board! Some of the consults said I only needed 4 implants
for the upper and 4 for the lower and others have said I need
just two for the lower. I did tell them I wanted to be able to
have teeth that didnt come out and I dont have a lot of bone
in either arch. What are your thoughts? Thanks, Jack J.
Dear Jack, there are several good questions here. I will try
and break them down and I encourage you and the readers to
read my articles on Upgradeable Dentistry and Advanced
Treatment
Planning
under
publications
at:
www.hamptondentalassociates.com where I have written
articles about these very questions. I also outline in various
publications the differences between removable overdentures
and fixed implant bridges and show examples of each type of
implant treatment.
First of all, without a consultation and x-rays I cannot
comment on your specific situation. The number of implants
you require is dependent upon the quality and quantity of
your remaining bone, your budget and the type of prosthesis
you require. Whether the implant restoration should be
fixed or non-removable by the patient or whether it is
acceptable to remove the implant supported denture and take
it out at night is a personal decision and both have advantages
and disadvantages. Most people that lose their teeth want
fixed teeth. In addition, the patients health, medication(s)
and anatomy all play a role in deciding upon the ideal implant
restoration. It is important to note that sometimes we can start
with a removable implant denture due to budgetary
constraints and add implants over a year or two and Upgrade
to a fixed restoration or bridge when finances allow!
Next, we can discuss the number of required implants. In
the upper arch most people have already been wearing a
denture or partial and they have already undergone bone loss.
As bone is lost in the upper jaw the sinuses expand and in
order to place implants in this area there is a need to grow
the bone by doing a sinus grafting procedure and possibly a
block grafting procedure. This sinus augmentation is a
procedure that will allow implants of normal length to be
placed in the posterior upper jaw. A way to bypass this is a
zygomatic or long implant that is used in an all-on-four
procedure. This procedure will place 4 implants at angles that
are used to support a full arch of denture teeth or a hybrid
prosthesis. This may be a predictable procedure but replacing
14 teeth (24 roots) with 4 implants doesnt provide as large a
margin of safety as using 7-9 implants per arch. This is a
matter of philosophy and the treating implant dentist and
surgeon will be able to explain their philosophy based upon

2015-2016 season, for example. James

will make $280,128.05 per game next
season. For every game he plays in
Milwaukee,
he
will
contribute
$21,429.80 to the states general fund.
Add up all of the players and team
employees who contribute to jock tax
revenue and the state will be taking in
over $6.5 million next season alone.
Another idea that was initially proposed by Assembly leadership months
ago is to put a surcharge on every ticket
that is sold at the new arena. Protecting
taxpayer dollars is central to my core
principles and I believe that imposing a
user fee on those who actually use the
new arena is good public policy. If the
rest of the state is expected to pay up to
$80 million over 20 years, those individuals who use the facility should also be
contributing to help cover the cost.
Under the current plan: the state will
be getting out of the arena business,
maintenance and operations will be paid
for by the team, any cost overruns will be
paid by the Bucks, and there are claw
back provisions to ensure that they would
have to pay back the public investment if
they were to leave Milwaukee.
Milwaukee is our only world-class
city and we need to continue to improve
it as best we can. Keeping the Bucks here

is integral to that improvement. My vote

is yes on the arena and I fully expect
Milwaukee area Democrats to step up,
without larding up the proposal, and do
their part by voting yes as well.
Prosperity should be a nonpartisan issue.
Lets get this done.

their education, skill and judgment.
As far as the two-implant option given to you for your
lower arch, this is strictly to support a lower overdenture,
which is removable. In order to have a fixed restoration
(non-removable) you would require a minimum of 6
maxillary and 5 mandibular implants in my practice. That
being said if you are able to place more implants and overengineer the situation you are always better off, as these
extra implants will redistribute chewing forces over 6-9
implants, instead of just four.
We offer complimentary implant consultations or
comprehensive examination and x-ray visits to our readers.
Please call us at 414-464-9021 to schedule your visit! We

Falls begins updating comprehensive plan

Village of Menomonee Falls staff have
begun the process of updating the village's
Comprehensive Plan.
What the plan is and how it will be updated was explained during a presentation the
Village Board July 6.
Director of Community Development Matt
Carran said the plan is "the long term vision,
the guide for our community regarding the
physical, social and economic development
for the community."
Carran said the current plan was adopted in 2008, two years before communities
were required by state law to have such a
plan in place. State law also requires the plan
be updated every 10 years. Carran said the
village is seeking input from residents regarding the update of the plan. He said the new
plan will included updated census information.
"This is an update, we're not re-writing the
plan. We're just basically bringing in new
information," Carran said.
He said the village is seeking input from
residents regarding what they want for the
community. That information can then be put

into the goals and objectives of the plan.

Tyler Zwagerman, community development planning technician, said the first phase
of the update began in January 2015 when
staff looked at existing data for the community. Zwagerman said staff also examined
trends that are affecting the village in 2015,
such as population and household growth,
and an aging population. He said that phase
was presented to the Plan Commission in
May.
The second phase, which is starting now,
involves identifying issues and the vision for
where the community will go based on feedback from the public, Zwagerman said. As
part of this step, a community survey was initiated in June, with community workshops and
outreach events planned. Staff will continue
to update the village on the plan and how
residents can be involved in its development.
According to Zwagerman, the current survey has been done primarily online, with
additional hard copies available. He said
there have been 150 responses received so
far. He said that 95 percent of respondents
are from village residents. He said the survey

will be open until August.

In addition, he said there have been
"mobile outreach" at events such as the
Farmer's Market, with plans to have outreach
events such as concerts in Village Park and
Falls Fest. Community workshops are also
planned for from 4-7 p.m. July 30 and Aug.
11 at the Village Hall board room. Updates
for the plan will be available at
www.menomonee-falls.org/2015plan.
Later during the meeting, Village
Manager Mark Fitzgerald suggested having
outreach at a the Neighborhood Watch
event that was later in the week. Trustee Steve
Raymonds suggested having outreach during
the corn roast which precedes the first home
game for Menomonee Falls varsity football.
Trustee Katie Kress suggested outreach at
Young Professional events organized by the
Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce.
According to Zwygerman, he said a
"health advisory committee" has been created as part of the plan update, which will
address long term goals and will incude representatives from local health officials and
health care providers.

Also, a Steering Committee will serve a

role for the goal setting part of the plan and
will include representatives from village staff,
the village president, the school districts and
other local officials.
Once the plan has been drafted, it will go
to the Plan Commission and then be open to
review by the public for 30 days and
changes will be made by staff based on feedback. It will go back to the Plan Commission
before going to the Village Board for final
consideration. The current timeline calls for
final consideration by the Village Board in
early 2016.
During questioning by the board, Carran
said the plan update is being done by village
staff. By comparison, the original plan was
created after the village hired outside consultants to work on the plan.
"It should have very little, if any, affect to
the budget because we're not hiring consultants," Carran said. He added that he was
"very proud" of the work that has been done
so far by village staff.
