OBJECTIVE

- Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and inches work

together)
- Find, scan and import a high-quality image.
- Create a full-bleed design.
- Choose a color scheme and typeface(s) that work for
your message and audience.
- Learn to use only Word design features without using
any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.

PROCESS

I scanned the musician image, and then enlarged the image to make
the ad full bleed. I wanted to make it seem high profile and look like a
big show so I gave the design a modern and artsy feel on PhotoShop.
I used rectangle shapes to create the sound frequency. I made them
more transparent so the audience could still see the image while they
saw the heart shaped hound frequency. The sound frequency is the
shape of a heart to tie in the American Heart Association Logo on the
bottom right.

OBJECTIVE

PACKs

Create three completely different, original logos to fit a company or personal image that will appeal to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use previous
designs.
Market research: gather opinions from at least ten peo-ple about which logo appeals most to them.
Use only the Illustrator tools to create and draw your logos. (No Illustrator
pre-fabricated flares, symbols, etc.. No photos or live-tracing. You may use an
image or drawing as a guide to trace it with the pen/pencil, but delete the image
before submitting.)
Refine one logo with variations for color.

PROCESS

I really like using Adobe Illustrator because the tools compliment my

creative mind and facilitate the creation process. I really wanted something
that seemed manly and rugged. So, I immediately thought of bears
which then made my mind go to bear back. What is outdoorsy and sits
on your back? Well, backpacks do but I wanted useful utility to promote.
HYDRATION RESERVOIRS (like cambelbacks). I used the pathfinder tool
to create the even divide imbetween the rectangle and the bears outline.

PROGRAM
Adobe PhotoShop

OBJECTIVE

Unify a layout with a consistent theme and dominant spiritual message

Learn to blend two or more images together gradually, using masks
Demonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout with multiple elements
Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image
Apply typography principles (titles, quotes, events or scripturesyour choice)
Format type: Legibility; Small copy & Title with varying text size. Theme word(s)
Select good quality images

PROCESS

I sketched out my idea. I have always loved the landscape of Yosemite.

It teaches me that there is a supreme creator and every detail has
been molded under his command. I then found a simple portrait of
Jesus Christ. I inter-pixalated the two images. I had to use the brush
tool to make sure that the Jesus image was well placed in the sun set.
I then found my scripture in the Book of Mormon. In order to align it
properly I had to use several text boxes and I placed the ruler tools to
line the sides. Each line has a purpose of teaching a simple principle. I
used the overlay tab to interlace the images.

OBJECTIVE

Learn basic photography skills.

Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the layout.
Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.
Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate layers for
NDE (non-destructive editing.)
Size and crop the image, then place on an 8.511 page layout.
Use layers to design text, and repeating graphic elements in Photoshop.
Print with full-bleed margins. Trim only 1/8 (0.125) from all four sides.

PROCESS
I edited the photo using 4 Photoshop principals: Levels, Vibrance, Color Selection,
and the Sharpening tools. I placed my friend Matthew on the left 3rd of the image
so that I could have nice negative space to place my body copy. I incorporated
my color scheme and color swatches to match Matthews clothes. I used basic
rectangles to create borders around my image to make sure my focal point was
able to trasmit the message to the audience without any distractions on the side.

PROGRAM

Microsoft Word 2013

Epson Scanner
PDF2JPG.net (PDF Converter)

OBJECTIVE
Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.
Create an original, new logo and use it in a brochure.
Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at least four quality images, not
including the logo. One should be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in
InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape of the image.
Write at least 250 words of original copy in at least three paragraphs,
headers, and subheaders.
Trim for a full bleed and print in duplex (two-sided) color.

PROCESS

Sketching was the most vital part of this process. In order to make
the Brochure some math skills were needed in order to mesaure out
the correct proportion. I had to do this so that I could make a reversal
outline for the inside of the the brochure. Since I did a double side/
duplex print job the measurements had to line up perfect on each side
so that the cut out woulf be clean and full bleed. I also used the text
wrap tool and photoshop to edit the 4 images.

We as a skateboarding entity have the purpose of taking the

causal amateur skater and transforming him or her into a bone crushing,
nollie flipping, capri sun drinking, southern California residing, goofy
parachute pant wearing, 40 year old dad with kids, managing a successful
job and skateboarding really hard. Now, we know that our statement may
seem a little outlandish and childish. Its not. It has worked in days of past.
There you have it. Shred the Gnar and Ride 4 life. Be you.

I used to be a nobody until

Forsyth Skateboarding Co sought me out,
took me under their wing, and showed me the
ways of the true skater. I must tell you
though, they fed me milk before meat. Their
tenderness and utter skill bring my eyes to
tearsbut I am a true man and I do not cry
anymore. My eyes just sweat the effects of my
daily skateboarding battle.
- Chris Cole.

Everyone else has no idea what

theyre doing. Ill be honest, Forsyth has the
ideas to boost our economy one wheel at a
time. America needs more men like him in all
trades. He plans out everything, from the
marketing to the sales pitch. When he isnt in
the background scheming out his next big
product hit youll find him chilling. He sits on
the warehouse couch and chats for an hour
about the Grateful Dead and how they need
to make another reunion tour .

BARBER SHOP

I started out by designing the icons and logo on the sketch pad. As I drew my face I
decided to give myself a mustache and that was how I thought of the barber shop.
I took a picture of myself and designed around the outline of my head and neck in
Adobe Illustrator. This Illustrator design was then places into InDesign and then
made the stationary and business card around it. I didnt want my barber shop to
seem cliche so I voice the classic red white and blue colors in the business card. I
realize that it might be less recognizable now but I feel like the barber shop has a
more stylish hair cut then the average hair barber. You can rock the clean cut top
and have a sophisticated mustache to give you the upper edge.

OBJECTIVE

Apply the design principles and use appropriate

typography.
Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier
layout.
Retrieve image and logo from links on this page.
Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign
document to keep links in InDesign intact.

PROCESS
I made four sketches to get several ideas to transmit certain messages. I
then used the sketches as a foundation to start my design work in Adobe
InDesign. I used triangles to create a certain flow and proximity to guide
the audience. The bolded text reveals the purpose and message of the
leadership conference. I was given the images and content to insert in
the headlines, titles and body copy. My job was to organize and construct
the shapes on InDesign.

OBJECTIVE

Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page.

Write content to describe the process of creating your logo and how it appeals
to a target audience.
Acquire a working knowledge of HTML. (Include all required tags Doctype
(provided), html, head, title, meta charset (provided), body, h1, h2, p, ol or ul
(with li tags), img, br, and a link to blog)
Acquire a working knowledge of CSS. (Customize the provided CSS provided to
format the HTML to complement the logo design. Change at least the following:
The h1 text color & h1 background color, font colors for the paragraphs & list
items, the background color, font families and add at least one css comment.).

PROCESS

I started by using code in html. In order to add the nuances,

background and colors to the web page design I had to link my html
to the CSS document in Notepad ++. I validated my web design several
times to make sure the coding was correct. I also used the open with
tab to observe the internet view on Google Chrome.
