ABSTRACT
Early childhood is the period when maximum development takes place. It is the most
crucial pe iod of a hilds life. I ol e e t of fa ily is e y u h eeded i this pe iod.
This study has been carried out on Dhaka- the capital city of Bangladesh; in search of the
ole of the fa ilies o hild e s ea ly hildhood de elop e t a d edu atio . The
specific objectives for this study were determining the role of parents and other
e e s o hild e s ea ly hildhood de elop e t a d edu atio a d o pa i g oth
the pa e ts ole o this issue. To attain these objectives two different interview
schedules were developed; one for the parents and the other one for one other family
member. Data was analyzed in a mixed method using simple percentage for quantitative
parts and thematic analysis for qualitative parts. The major findings included families
with highly educated pa e ts a e o e fo thei hild e s o e all de elop e t than
that of other families, mothers take more responsibilities of the children then fathers
and most families now are well aware of extra-curricular development of their children.
