How successful has China been at tackling energy and environmental problems?

After Chinas opening up in 1978, CCP has been taking the easy way out of using
cheap but polluting sources of energy, giving rise to the situation of
environmental degradation that grew to become critically severe over time.
While progresses have been made at tackling environmental and energy
problems, through innovative and determined governmental policies, they are
however limited by Beijings priorities at sustaining high economic growth rate
and the rapid rate of urbanization within the country. Hence, this essay seeks to
argue that China has largely not been successful because despite many
progresses made and innovations designed at resolving its environmental woes,
continued unbridled economic growth, corruption and lack of respect for the rule
of law are reasons why Chinas success remained limited.
China is able to ameliorate the problem of energy shortage through its
aggressive acquisition of overseas crude oil and natural gas.
Successes at dealing with energy and environmental problems are evident in the
spectacular technological and advancement made under investment.
Laws and regulations have also been implemented to ensure that energy and
environmental problems can be death with more effectively.
Progresses made at resolving Chinas environmental and energy problems is
promoted through commitments made by Beijing at international cooperation
and agreements.
Nevertheless, the emphasis on achieving economic growth has compromised
CCPs efforts and successes at dealing with its energy and environmental
problems.
Rising affluence and rapid urbanization have also limited the efficacy of Chinas
energy and environmental policies.
Meanwhile, structural challenges such as lack of respect for rule of law and
corruption have also undermined governments efforts at tackling the problems.
Obstacles at resolving the problems are complicated by the vastness and
complexities of the country.
In conclusion, progresses have been made at tackling environmental and energy
problems, through innovative and determined governmental policies. However,
they are however limited by Beijings priorities at sustaining high economic
growth rate and the rapid rate of urbanization within the country. Therefore,
China has largely not been successful because despite many progresses made
and innovations designed at resolving its environmental woes, continued
unbridled economic growth, corruption and lack of respect for the rule of law are
reasons why Chinas success remained limited.
