Students will be able to locate Ireland on the world map. (I can locate Ireland on a map)

5. Instructional Procedures:
a. Motivation/Engagement: Teacher will introduce that our class will be studying
Ireland for multicultural week. Teacher will create a discussion about countries students
have traveled to. Teacher will show a picture of the world and locate Ireland on the map
and on the big globe. Teacher will show students where the Atlantic Ocean is located
along with the Irish Sea, Dublin and more.
b. Developmental Activities or Learning Experiences: Teacher will have students talk
about things they wonder or would like to know about Ireland. Teacher will read pages 413 aloud and discuss facts about Ireland on each page. Teacher will question students
about facts that are read to ensure students are comprehending what is being read.
After the pages are read and discussed about Irelands location, weather and climate,
school and people the students will turn and tell their partner a few things that they have
learned about Ireland.
After students have discussed what they have learned, Teacher will take the facts and
write them on the square map about Ireland as the students share their facts aloud.
Teacher will make sure every student has the opportunity to share a fact about Ireland.
c. Closure: Teacher will end lesson with asking students questions:
What ocean is on the West side of Ireland? Atlantic Ocean
