General Info:
The older brother to the newer and fuel injected 3E-E. The 3E is known for its
low power output and carburator that nobody likes to work on. It is also known
for going through valve stem seals after about 100,000 miles.

General Info:
The younger and newer brother to the 3E, the 3E-E is virtually the same
engine as the 3E except that it is fuel injected. This update necessitated a head
that is exactly the same minus ports added for the fuel injectors. This lead to the
design of a new intake manifold as well as a throttle body instead of a carburator.
Unfortunately, the 3E-E suffers from the same general problem as the 3E. The
valve stem seals tend to go after about 100,000 miles and the power output is less
than stellar.

General Info:
Toyota followed similar lines with the 4E-FTE as they did with the 3E-TE.
Thus the 4E-FTE is basically a 4E-FE with stronger connecting rods and lower
compression pistons. It also has a harmonic damper instead of a normal
crankshaft pulley. However, it does share the same head with the 4E-FE, 1st gen
5E-FE, and 5E-FHE. It produces the most stock horsepower of any E series
engine.
Over time this has become a very popular engine to swap into Tercels and
Paseos due to its high stock power output. It is also known to be capable of
handling much more power without upgrading stock internals.

General Info:
The 5E-FHE is essentially a beefed up 1st gen 5E-FE. It boasts a higher
compression ratio, more agressive cams (higher lift/duration), a factory 4-2-1
exhaust manifold, and a harmonic damper was added to deal with the rev limiter
because it was increased to 7200 rpm. In some instances it also came with an
dual runner ACIS (acustic control induction system) intake manifold. To cope
with this added stress Toyota threw in fairly strong connecting rods that are
known to hold up to quite a bit of power. This is the strongest and largest of the E
series engines which makes it the difinitive favorite of the bunch.
