Intellectual Property Rights are must for a knowledge based
economy like India. These are important from the standpoint of
remaining competitive in current as well as future times. Since the
awareness about IPR is low in India, this workshop will give
academician, researchers (across disciplines), corporate leaders and
other stakeholders an opportunity to educate themselves on various
aspects of Intellectual Property Rights and hence help them protect
their intellectual properties by encouraging them to file patents,
copyrights etc. eventually safeguarding their knowledge and
innovations that are beneficial to organizations, economy and
society as a whole.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Intellectual Property Rights are must for a knowledge based economy like India. These are important from the standpoint of remaining
competitive in current as well as future times. Unfortunately, the most recent IP Index by GIPC (Global Intellectual Property Center)
of the US Chamber of Commerce, India's rank is the last among 25 countries for which the Center prepares the Index. This is an
alarming situation and steps needs to be taken before it is too late. One of the primary reasons for this situation is partial or no
awareness about IPR amongst academicians, researchers, industry experts and other stakeholders.
To fill this gap, our endeavor is to give an overview on the most important IPRs, such as, patents, trademarks and trade names,
designs, copyright, etc. with illustrative examples. An important session will specifically be held on issues related to patents
(protecting technical inventions,) and other types of Intellectual Properties.
Specifically, the workshop will be covering following themes

Intellectual Property Rights regime in India

Patents and patentability
Filing Patents
Managing Intellectual property

OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP

This workshop aims at creating awareness amongst different stakeholders such as students, research scholars, academicians, corporate
leaders and practitioners so that intellectual properties are preserved, protected and utilized for the benefit of the individuals,
organizations, nation and society at large.
