EXISTING CONDITIONS
AREA OF
INTERVENTION

The Hope Basic School is

located on the ground and is
apart of the building of the Hope
Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The school currently has 70+
students and is in need of
additional space to improve the
quality
of
the
learning
experience.
There is also an immediate need
for restrooms to be directly
accessible from within the school
to prevent students and staff
getting wet when it rains.
Additionally,
the
nearer
restrooms will improve the staffs
ability to monitor the students
during the frequent bathroom
breaks.

EXISTING SCHOOL FLOOR PLAN

An opportunity now exists to

significantly improve the physical
plant of the school that will
enhance the learning experience
of the students.

PROPOSED

EXPANSION DETAILS
PHASE1

The usable area of the school

will
be
increased
by
approximately 50% to increase
the comfort and functionality of
the teaching environment.

EXISTING

An existing computer lab located

on the grounds will be relocated
into the school as a natural
compliment to the schools
curriculum. The school itself will
then take on greater importance
as the computer lab is also used
by members of the community.

Two
new
restroom
compartments, a principals
office and a sick bay will round
out the improvements.
Note: The construction of the
two restroom compartments will
be the scope of Phase 1 of the
expansion project.

This phase includes the

construction of restroom facilities
directly accessible from within
the school building. The available
space is under an existing
undercroft (portion of building)
that was constructed in
anticipation of the expansion of
the school.
Two
compartments
are
proposed; 1 for students and 1
for
staff.
The
student
compartment is to be outfitted
with a shower while each
compartment will have 1-water
closet and lavatory basin each.
Note: The design has been done
to allow easy build out of the
future phases without an loss or
modification to these proposed
restrooms.
