Course Description:

The course is designed to provide students with activities to develop attitude and skills on the Care and Management of OB patients from labor to delivery and post partum.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the course students are expected to:
Cognitive:
1. Differentiate normal from abnormal assessment findings;
2. Identify cases of bleeding during the various stages of pregnancy;
3. Plan appropriate care based on identified needs and problems of the client;
Affective:
1. Assess women during the ante, intra and postpartal period and the newborn;
2. Develop the skills to counsel/motivate family planning clients;
3.
Display and develop sensitivity in effective communication skills in gathering health history data with patients
Psychomotor:
1. Deliver safe and quality care to patients during the perinatal period
2. Implement planned interventions to meet needs and address problems;

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course deals with the important skills in identifying complications of pregnancy, labor and delivery including integrated
management of childhood diseases and family planning.

To develop the students competencies in identifying patients with complications during pregnancy, labor and delivery and
implementing IMCI program and family planning.

DESCRIPTION OF LEARNERS

The learners are the second Year Midwifery students equipped with basic knowledge about the principles of normal pregnancy,
labor and delivery.
