Welcome to the Pro-ELT Course.

Course Objectives
Primary Objective: To help you to raise your language ability in all English skills.
Secondary Objective: To support the development of your classroom methodology

Attendance
You must attend 95% of the course.
You will need to sign a register and your trainer will also record your attendance on a ministry portal.
Please give all notes about your absences to your trainer e.g. medical notes and notes about
attendance at other courses or school events.

Level of the Course


B1 or B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference and you need to move up one level.

The Course Components


This is a blended learning approach.
240 hours face to face training and 240 hours online. You will need to spend about 6 hours a week
on each component.
1) Face to Face classes with a trainer
6 hours a week plus breaks once a week.
Course Material
The coursebooks English for Teaching 2 or English for Teaching 3 and other relevant material. This
will cover both language and methods of teaching.
Progress testing
There will be two progress tests. Your tutor will give you feedback on the areas to work on.
One - to - one counselling
Your trainer will speak to each of you about your work after your progress tests.
2) Online component with an online tutor (emoderator) for your group:
About 6 hours a week online.

You will be working on the Ministry of Education portal.
The online component consists of 18 units, 3 modules (6 units per module). As you work through the
units, you will have to:
complete tasks and exercises
contribute to forums and wikis. You will learn how to do these during the course.
The system will record your progress and you will be able to see your progress and grades.
You also have to:
complete 6 assignments throughout the course
work on the self-access course: Learning English Pathways
Assignments
The assignments run throughout the course and they will be skills based to help you prepare for the
Aptis test.
You will see them one week before they are due.
Your online tutor
Your online tutor will tell you about assignments, what you need to do and when you need to submit
them.
Your face to face trainer
Your face to face trainer will also support you.
Learn English Pathways (LEP): Self-Access
This is a British Council course, which consists of skills and function-based practice.
You can complete this course on your own at your own pace.
B1 participants will have to complete Intermediate 1 and 2.
B2 participants will have to complete Upper Intermediate 1 and 2.

Assessment
Before and after the course you will take the British Council Aptis test, which assesses your level on
the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

C1.
