Baseball: Rubicon stays third in RRL North

The Rubicon Red Sox defeated Ashippin
July 19, 14-3. Afterward, Rubicon was in
third place in the Rock River League
Northern Division with a 10-3 record.The
Red Sox will play at Kewaskum at 1:30 p.m.
July 26.
Hustisford was in fourth place with a 9-5
record after a 1-0 win over Juneau July 19.
Hustisford will play at Oakfield July 25 and
host Ashippin July 26, with both games
beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Hartford was in second place in the
Northern Division with a 9-2 record while
Slinger was in seventh place with a 4-8
record. Hartford will host Ashippin at 2:30
p.m. July 25 and play at Juneau at 1:30 p.m.

Land O'Lakes results

The West Bend 7Up are tied with the
Pewaukee Muskies for first place in the Land
O'Lakes West Division, with both teams having an 11-2 record. The 7Up will play at
Lannon July 24.

Bend West at the sectional semifinal in
Whitefish Bay July 19, as the Spartans lost to
Grafton, 2-0.

Suspect charged over chase

An 18-year-old Milwaukee man is facing several charges in connection with a
police chase that began in West Bend and
ended in Germantown during the early morning hours of July 10.
According to a criminal complaint filed
by the Washington County District Attorney's
Office July 13, Christopher Lott,18, is
charged with operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent, attempting to flee or
elude a traffic officer, misdemeanor theft
(party to a crime), and possession of an illegally obtained prescription (party to a
crime).
A conviction for operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent carries a possible sentence of a $10,000 fine, six years in
jail, or both. A conviction for attempting to
flee or elude a traffic officer carries a possible sentence of a $10,000 fine, three years
and six months in jail, or both. A conviction
for misdemeanor theft (party to a crime) carries a possible sentence of a $10,000 fine,
nine months in jail, or both. A conviction for
possessing an illegally obtained prescription (party to a crime) carries a possible sentence of a $500 fine, six months in jail, or
both.
According to the criminal complaint, at
1:37 a.m. July 10 a West Bend Police officer
observed a vehicle leaving a grocery store in
the 1600 block of South Main Street at a
high rate of speed. The officer determined
the vehicle was traveling 46 mph in a 30
mph zone. When the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle turned onto
Humar Street and into a driveway for an
apartment complex, then drove onto the
grass and back onto Main Street, with the
vehicle accelerating to 70-80 mph.
The vehicle then continued south onto
Hwy. P with speeds in excess of 100 mph,
according to the criminal complaint. The vehicle drove past a stop sign at the intersections

of Hwy. P and Hwy. 60 and then drove past

a stop sign as it turned off of Boniwell Road
and onto Goldendale Road. The vehicle continued on Goldendale Road before turning
onto Hwy. 145. At that point, the suspect
turned off the lights to the vehicle and started
to straddle the center line. The vehicle then
turned onto Hwy. 45 north and then made a
U-turn a half mile south of Hwy. 60. At that
point, a Germantown police officer deployed
a tire deflation device that caused the front
passenger side tire to come off the rim. The
vehicle then slowed to 25-35 mph. The vehicle nearly struck a Sheriff's Department
squad vehicle posted near Lannon Road. The
chase lasted approximately 16 miles.
Police later learned that the vehicle was
reported stolen in the city of Milwaukee. The
criminal complaint states that stolen property
was recovered from the stolen vehicle, including prescription pills. The criminal complaint
also cites information from a detective who
"reports that numerous other items that have
been linked to entry to auto complainants
were also recovered from the stolen vehicle."
A hearing for Lott will be held at 8:15
a.m. July 27 in the Washington County
Justice Center.
