Running Clubs
1. NuclearKitty
a. Chinas first all-female running club which was founded at the end
of last year. Their name shows that they are normally like a couple
of cute kittens, but when running, become nuclear powered.
b. This club has high expectations of its members. They hold three
practices a week and often participate in group runs and slow long
distance training. Dedicated members participate in competitions
throughout the country.

2. KiteRunners
a. Established February of this year, their motto is: everyone has a
kite in their heart; no matter what yours symbolizes, you must
bravely follow it. This club does not have any requirements and
accepts all participants, from those trying to improve their health to
those training for marathons. KiteRunners regularly organizes
group runs through online communication and participates in
competitions as a group.

3. Crazy Bitch
a. Formed in the Fall of 2013, this running club has around 100
people and nearly 10 designated areas around Shanghai where
they have weekly morning and evening runs. They require their
male members to run a monthly total of 80 kilometers, and female
members to run 50 kilometers, as well as participation in at least 1
competition every half a year.

Cycling Clubs
4. Prodigy
a. This club, established in 2003, was the first cycling club in China,
and is comprised of mostly male foreigners. They solely participate
in biking on mountain or nature trails. They hold events every
weekend, and have at least 2 excursions out of the country every
year, including traversing the Swiss Alps.

5. Rideal
a. This cycling club encourages all types of bicycling, including
mountain biking, road cycling, and BMX. Every week they
participate in a ride within the city, and go to three out-of-country
locations per year.

Cycling Routes
1. Chongming Dongping National Forest Park
a. Total distance: 6 kilometers
b. Attractions: Forest, plants, lake, egrets and wildlife
2. Baoshan Greenway
a. The length of this trail spans more than 100 kilometers long and 2
meters wide, offering plenty of room for cyclists and joggers. Farms,
cottages, flowery scenery and open fields line the path. Meilan
Lake and Gucun Park are some notable attractions along the trail.
3. Qingpu: Dianshan Lake Jogging and Biking Trail
a. Total distance of 25 kilometers along the lake, where you can enjoy
the sight of reeds swaying in the lake. Surrounding areas are
Zhujiajiao and Dongfang Luzhou.
4. Songjiang: The distance from Happy Valley, Moon Lake Sculpture Park,
She Mountain National Forest Park to Chen Shan Botanical Garden is 8
kilometers and covers many Songjiangs sightseeing attractions.
Jogging Routes:
1. Longteng Avenue
a. A waterfront route alongside the Huangpu River. On the opposite
side of the river is the 2010 Shanghai World Expos China Pavilion.
This is a 3 kilometer plastic cement jogging path with light traffic,
beautiful sightseeing, and fresh air. The area is popular among
joggers, who will often offer a friendly greeting or encouragement.
2. The Former French Concession
a. The area surrounding the famous Hengshan road. This location
offers a unique sightseeing experience and is rife with foreign
architecture. Jogging along this road will make runners feel like
they are going through a different country.
3. Century Park
a. One lap around the park is 5 kilometers. The road is very smooth,
with no traffic lights, and is convenient for training and recording
times. Runners can enjoy a very comfortable and professional route
around the parks natural oxygen bar.
4. Daning Lingshi Park
a. One of the largest parks in Puxi. There are two running trails, one
3.4 km and the other 2.8 km, both ending at the same place. There
are hills and slopes throughout the park that can help runners who
are seeking to train in a more rigorous environment.

5. Suzhou Riverside: From the intersection of Qilianshan South Road and


Beizhai Road to Waibaidu Bridge. This route is a total of 16 kilometers
with light traffic, fresh air, and is surrounded by shade and trees.
6. Putuo District: Changfeng Park, East China Normal University. Two very
developed communities in Shanghai where night running is very popular.
