Every time I hear a siren sound past the house here I say a little prayer for the people
involved. Sirens never bode well and they mean that somebody is suffering.
Ambulances mean someone is hurt or experiencing some illness and suffering. The
Fire engines mean that something is on fire and maybe a home is under threat,
someones life is at risk. The Police siren says that someone is in trouble, causing
harm or being harmed. And all those men and women who are part of those services
need our support with all the things they have to face. Whichever or whatever,
someone needs a prayer, my prayer. It is a little thing but I hope each time that it is
making a difference to someone. I never get to know of course but I think it is a little
action and moment that is important. Its something to think about though. So many
of our acts of kindness go unnoticed and unremitted but we know that they have
enormous potential to ripple out into the community. Its the paying forward of Gods
Grace. What I have received, I offer in return. Anyway I say a prayer each time I hear a
siren.
This week, we gathered all the young people preparing for the next stage of their
Sacrament journey. Well many of them - a couple of accidents closed the Lakes Way
and that prevented some from getting through. If you havent to date signed up to be
a prayer partner for these kids can I encourage you to do so. Our prayer makes a
difference and I know they and their families appreciate the gesture. Great comfort
and encouragement comes to us when we know we are being prayed for, dont you
think? It says so much on the value in which we hold these young people as the next
generation of the faithful. If we dont take the time to remember them in prayer and
support them in faith we are doomed as a church. Our prayer puts it all in Gods
hands and it allows us to trust in the abundant Grace that comes from the love of God
and the God heart!
When we gathered I had an opportunity to talk with the parents. Much of what we
talked about is known to them and it is what they are sharing with their children
simply by enrolling them in our process for sacraments. I went through the four parts
of the Mass and the four presences of Christ when we gather. And how they all link,
and link to our life out in the world. Our prayers and experiences are gathered with
the opening prayer and by the end those experiences are healed and developed if
they need it, and our lives are fed as we are sent out or better, commissioned to
share faith and life in the world. The word we use is transformed! And I think it is
important to hear and use the words of the church in relation to the Eucharist:
transubstantiation, consecration, Body and Blood, words that convey the heart and
soul of who we are as a church and community.

Adelaide Youth Festival

International Lunch 16th August

Recently Deceased

2 years ago, Emily Fowle attended


the first national youth festival
which was held in Melbourne she
levitated home! She had an
awesome experience of God which
has remained with her. Some of
you may remember her talk which
she presented at Masses following
the event. Well, the Festival is on
again for the second time, and will
be held in Adelaide. The response
to this event from our region last
time was poor with only 2
attending, one from Tuncurry and
one from Taree. Emily will be
attending again this year. In her
own words she is psyched.
Please consider helping or
encouraging a family member or
friend to make this trip a reality. I
promise you will have an angel for
at least 2 weeks afterwards! As Fr
Greg mentioned, the young are the
future of our church. We really
need have more of our youth
attend.
We will be hosting an information
evening at Forster church for the
Adelaide event on Thursday 6th
August, 7pm. For more information

doesnt have to be a huge offering; it could
be a starter, aperitif, finger food or a
bounty; whatever suits. Detail the country
you would like to represent at the rear of
the church. Get together with friends. Bring
along furnishings to theme and brighten up
your stand (tables provided).

Give Our Lord the benefit of believing
that his hand is leading you,
and accept the anxiety of feeling yourself
in suspense and incomplete.

I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to me will never be hungry; he who believes in me will
never thirst. Lord, send us priests after your own heart to give us the Food of everlasting life
Your very Self in the Eucharist. Consider a call to the priesthood of Jesus Christ.
